Hand Trolley for Moving Which One?

Moving house soon don't want to spend much on a hand trolley for moving stuff like fridges. By the way what's weight of average fridge.

I'm looking at this

I can sign up for the $10 credit which pretty much gives you $5 free. Only problem my state has only one store I can buy from about 24 km away which not too far. Going by the reviews a lot like the Supercheap auto edition. And you can I believe buy wheels if needed.

I'm looking at this one from Bunnings but no reviews not sure how others rate it compared to the other and even if you can buy wheels. And Bunnings is 10 min walk from where I live. It's pretty much for a move very soon in which I could use for various things buy washing machine and fridge would play big factor. Would these do.

This is Bunnings one.

Which is better one to get?

  • Either one would be fine. Are you not getting someone to help you move?

  • +1

Either is fine, Get a length of hose and split it longways and wrap it around the long upright tubes that will contact any load. Saves scratches.

I also bought a platform trolley (without handle) and with hard rubber wheels (not plastic). WOW - what a difference to moving stuff around inside the house. Expensive, but worth every penny IMO. Handle gets in way and you really don't want one.

  • Depends on the fridge but in the range of 100kg to 150kg
I guess either of those would be fine for the purpose. IF you rent a truck/trailer for the move you might get a trolley included…

  • I just used the Bunnings one to move a full house no issues at all . Fridge was a big old thing as well .
Even had to go up some back steps

  • Which is better one to get?

I'm pretty sure they both come out the same factory and are the same design, just different colours.

    • This. Pick the one that is your favorite color, or easiest to purchase (closest shop)

  • Have you considered hiring one from Bunnings Hire Shop?

    A refrigerator/stair trolley can be hired for $16 for a 24 hour period (plus a $100 deposit).
It is far stronger than the ones you’ve been looking at and is able to get up and down stairs with ease should that be required.

The fine line or item number is 5470207 if you’d like to check it out.

  • I bought the supercheap one bent the axle on the stairs and after short time the wheel tread splits in half through the center pointless trying to repair.
Ended up with this http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/SCA-Hand-Trolley-Pn… bigger wheels for stairs and been going strong for about 3 years.
Or go with the hire option and get something even better for the day.

  • Bunnings one is great.

  • you can cut the handle off and use it as the starter frame for a billie cart.

  • What about washing machine is this suitable with trolley,
Myself and wife will be moving/lifting the heavy stuff that is just to heavy or akward to move myself.
So thought getting one of these might help along the way more so for fridge and washing machine.
There are no stairs house all in one level if anything that i remember small step from garage to house and main door im sure small lip.
My concern is no side gate we just noticed where back has patio doors.
How bloody akward to side gate something we never looked for while viewing.
Im hoping that either stuff fit through front door or at least from garage into house.
There is a door also going from garage to back of house but still a gate is so handy for many reasons.
I will move most stuff myself thats not to heavy or akward and have a ton of stuff so be hiring a truck.

  • No stairs?? I got this one https://www.bunnings.com.au/toplift-300kg-heavy-duty-applian… - totally different price range I guess, but I think even a door way is a pain without the climb mechanism??

    • just further info, I spent ages in bunnings choosing a trolley. They have a good selection. This one just seemed robust to last forever. Moved a huge fridge/ freezer with ease - has a strap to hold it in place.

It was my first trolley and I was impressed how quickly I emptied a 40 foot container on my own. I didn't need a hand with anything!

  • I got this from bunnings the other day and have been using it all of yesterday.
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/toplift-collapsible-stairclimb-t…

the stair-climbing feature is excellent and works very well, although because the wheels are plastic and not pneumatic it makes a VERY loud bang on the steps each time it pops down each stair.

I think this one is probably any good for small fridges though, you need a v heavy duty one for big fridges.

  • Im moving my stuff next week so i need to decide either buy the one i mentioned or hire from bunnings.as i be hiring a truck for 3 days i just feel buying the cheap one i might get more use from it being that i be moving stuff over 3 days.
My fridge is 5 yrs old now but still going strong, does look big but not as big as some or them double sided ones.
I have no idea of weight.
Being its older now looks like it cant be purchased anywhere apart from gumtree maybe.
Model number i believe is rt50mbsl1/xsa.

  • If you are looking for the cheapest trolley, your choices would be limited to the entry-level trolleys that starts at $20 - $30. These trolleys would not be the most durable. But if you are looking for a better choice or features like stairclimber wheels or easy tilt axels or better grip, you can find some hand trolleys here that would cost you more but help you do things easily.
