Moto G6 Plus or X4?

Hi OzBargainners,

I'm in the market for a new phone and was hanging out for the G6 Plus. Now that it's out JB Hifi have discounted the X4 to $499, which is the same price as the G6 Plus.

Which one would you recommend? Both have the same CPU and GPU, same memory size, the X4 has a smaller screen (5.2" vs 5.9" which is a lot) but a better cameras (higher pixels). The X4 is also IP rated which isn't a big issue for me.

On the camera issue, what does the f rating mean? Is higher the f value the better?

What do you guys and gals think?

    f-stop is the ratio of the focal length of the lens to the diameter of the aperture. Thus a smaller number lets in more light and is able to use more of the available light. But it's only one aspect of the camera.

    I personally prefer the G6 plus coz of the screen size, the dedicated memory card slot and being slightly newer (so probably longer support)

    I'm liking the G6 Plus so far. Nice big screen, pretty smooth going through apps. The case is very slippery though being glass. I have a case coming from China somewhere.
