Xiaomi Redmi Mi 4X US $100 (~AU $135.47) Delivered @ Joybuy

130

This is my first posting, so all you hard-core OzB's, be kind!
The deal is for the phone at AU$135.47 - MINUS the Au$6.77 coupon which you get by registering. So, net AU$128-ish delivered. This is a very good deal for what I believe is a very good mid-range 4G capable smart-phone (at least I hope so…..I've just bought it!!).
BUT, this is NOT the "global" version of the phone. You will have to update the firmware to the global version by going to http://en.miui.com/download-323.html (link is on JoyBuy page) and downloading the "stable" version of the Xiaomi MIUI 9 full ROM firmware pack. As far as I can see, this is NOT a huge hassle or complex - even for a novice…just follow the guide provided.

BTW, they sent me another coupon when I completed my order.

…..phew! I did it….!

Also it's only 2gb… Having had the 3gb version I don't think 2gb will be enough. Great phone though

Buy the redmi note 4X instead
at around $190 it is a no brainer
Unless if you want the smaller 5 inch redmi 4

Official Lineage > What ever crap is on the Aquos.

        • It's just a launcher over the top of 8.0. Just need to install the google launcher (or whatever one floats your boat) and you've pretty much got stock android.

        • @freefall101:

The question isn't whether its stock or not. The question is whether it would get updated, especially the monthly security updates.

          Like the updates to fix

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlueBorne_(security_vulnerability)

which pretty much leave any unpatched device bluetoothless.

Not too sure about this phone but I brought remdi pro which was also not a global version and struggled to update it to a global rom (gave up on it). Its not as easy as most people think. Some phones are also locked in MIUI as to which rom you can apply…so do your homework.

    • Gulp! Alright, so I'm committed now…
I'll give it a go and maybe report back on what happens.
