Bissell SpotClean Portable Carpet Cleaner $147 @ Harvey Norman

1230

I have been after one of these for ages after seeing all the rave reviews.

This is the cheapest I have ever seen it.

It was $229 now $147

Here is the link to super cheap who have it for $199.97

I'm not sure how long the deal is for as the sale rep said their half yearly sale changes weekly but unsure of the day it changes on

  • Interesting, but surely one of those big powerful Britex machines from Woolies/Bunnings etc would be much better than one of these and only costs about $36 a day to hire? We hire one about every 1 or 2 yrs for a big cleanup of carpets, couch etc. They're great!

    • +2

For carpets I wouldn't suggest it as it's designed for small areas like couches and cars ect.

I guess it's worth it for me having 3 little tornados so I can do my couches and cars and then also can lend it out to family ect

The bottles for the mixture are $14 and I would say does around 4 large areas (2 couches or a full car) so roughly $3.50 per use

You can make your own cleaning solution, I use laundry liquid, shampoo or vinegar.

        Plenty of recipes online.

    • Think I'll do this too (re bunnings). Is it manually intensive or like a vacuum?

    • +1

Those are great if you have pets or kids, to fix up localized messes, like spills or pets being sick etc.

  • Is this better than the Bissell Little Green Portable Extractor? I got it from godfreys a few years ago for $99.

    • I haven't used the green model sorry

    • I think they’re identical.

      Any good?

  • +7

    Nicely spotted

  • +2

    Good find OP.

Bought one. I was about to pay a bloke $150 to clean my couch.

    • It comes with a sample bottle too which does 2 large size areas (would do a car twice) and I bought another bottle for $14

  • I've got the Little Green version from Godfreys too. aid $149 on promotion a few months ago. It's a good little machine and works well. I have attempted cleaning a whole rug and sofa with it which was a bit labour intensive but it still did a good job. It's not really designed for that though, hence the name SpotClean.

  • +2

I just clean my couch that had marks all over in from the aftermath of 3 boys and it's come up like brand new. All marks are gone which I was actually shocked by as some of them I didn't think had any chance of coming out.

I don't have any experience with the green model, I had only heard about this one on a Facebook group when it was on sale at super cheap for $179 and everyone was posting before and after photos of their cars, rugs and couches and raving about how fantastic it is

    • Nice one. Any before and after pictures for us?

      • +26

Well this is embarrassing but here is the couch im about to do (not as bad as the one i did) and the couch i have done

        • Yikes, is that just shadow in the top one, or…something else?

        • @strangeloops66:

Top right is a shadow but yes its gross!! I was actually going to throw it and get a new set until i saw this and thought ill give it a try

        • +12

Thank you for sharing. If it's any consolation everyone with a child knows that kind of mess :)

        • time to get leather!

        • +1

          @joshuah:

I did think of that! But then thought that they will put holes in it somehow. I think I'll invest in a nice quality couch set when they are older.

          Thank you Quarn :)

        • -6

Your couch has seen a lot of action princess…:)

        • +2

          @blaccdong:
Yes 3 tornados that know they aren't allowed to eat on the couch but do anyways

        • are u sure u didnt just flip the cushions? lol
          great before/after!!

        • @spoonmugen:

Hahaha the bottom ones are stuck down. I actually did my car with it today too. Looks amazing!!

  • +4

It seems the one at super cheap also has more attachments suited for a car.

    • nice find.

      HN:
1x Bissell SpotClean Portable Carper Cleaner
      1x 8cm Tough Stain Tool

      SCA:
Includes 3 in 1 upholstery tool, 2 in 1 spraying crevice tool & 6" tough stain tool

  • If this isn't recommended for carpets, what would be good?

    • +2

      Portable Carpet Cleaner

      We use this for carpets

    • +4

Its more for spot clean on carpets

      • Thanks! I just need it to spot clean

    • Mop and bucket

    • Any upright Bissell with rotating brushes is good, such as the powerclean pet. Every year they change the name and colour but they're functionally the same. Buy the runout model.

  • +7

Got one thanks. Now off to convince mum we need to replace the floorboards with carpet.

  • +5

Thought I’d add my 2 cents
WAs watching this a while back , I own the pro version with all the attachments. Every electronics store have a slightly different model but generally all the same
    Green machine, basic and pro

I use my for my car and it works a treat and also on my carpet for spot stains.

I bought the pro spot stain for 180 ish from memory

150 is the normal price when on sale for the basic version.

It’s like a mini carpet cleaner

  • +6

i don't need this…i don't need this…i don't need this… Wow, this will be great for the couches, thanks OP.

  • +1

I bought one of these years ago to get a coffee drop on a beige carpet. Got it out 100%.

Funnily enough we had to drag it out of the cupboard this week to clean up an accident from the dog's rear end in some plush carpets.

Job done really well, amazing for wet spills and stains.

    • +5

So you can attest that it literally sucks shit? :P

  • +1

Thanks OP, grabbed one and a bottle of the liquid.
I also added the recent Amex HN offer (Spend $350 get $50).

This purchase now means that Amex offer is “Spend $190 get $50” which is likely to be very useful this month (EOFY Sales)

I thought we were boycotting HN?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/381478

    • +2

Well most OZbargainers will go where the bargains and values are. Boycott? Hah more like keyboard warriors.

    • Yes we were. Not anymore.

    • That was two days ago.

  • +2

I’m intrigued by this item. Are there any machines which are similar but can be used on leather car seats?

    • -1

      It’s Leather! Use wipes

      • Not with the issues I have at the moment

        • Do tell more!

  • +1

*comment removed - send twice by mistake

  • Do you think it can clean soft toys and duck down jacket? I saw a bissell video that they use the small attachment of a proheat complete to clean soft toys.

    • +4

      You can say that again!

      • +1

        You must be my husband

  • Let's address the pink elephant in the room.

The OP is quite easy on the eyes lol

    • +3

So hugely off topic, so inoffensive (almost politely flattering) and so hilarious.

I am going to have to buy this gadget as my dog was on the couch. He did not do anything but smell like a dog.

    • +2

      Haha thanks

    • It's even easier now!

  • Which one better? HN or SCA($53 more)

  • +1

I don’t have any carpet in my apartment but seriously need this to clean some stains in my car. Happy to pay $10-$15 to anyone who is willing to rent it to me for 15-30mins or for the duration to clean the stains my car. We can meet anywhere within 15km of Melbourne cbd. PM me if you are keen and we can discuss further. Thanks.

    • Use the classifieds section.

    • Find a local carwash… Some have carpet shampooers (sp) in the vacuum bay..

  • -3

Nice, thanks OP! Also is that really you in the profile picture?

  • +3

After our daughter was born she threw up almost daily. We tried to contain the spew to our clothes and rugs but inevitably it went on the couch and carpets. It's just not something you can get out of carpet well with carpet cleaner and paper towel and it makes the whole house smell!

We saw this at HN and it was a life saver. It's always ready in the laundry to grab and clean up any mess made. It's impressive and kind of scary how black the water comes up even on "clean" carpet regularly vaccumed and less than a year old.

It's great for SPOT cleans but it's a hand held device with a short and not so flexible hose so don't think you can clean your whole carpet with it. I did the whole couch (it takes up half our lounge) and it took me ages. Glad I did it though. I've done 1m2 patches of carpet and my arm and knees were sore so a britex machine does still have its place every now and then. If we borrowed a britex machine every time our daughter spewed however we would be broke!

My only complaint is the hose. I read that people have had issues with it cracking where it connects to the machine and I can totally see how that happens. The plastic is quite brittle so you need to be careful with it. Haven't had any problems with ours yet.

  • Family member gave me one of these they won in a raffle, been sitting in my shed for years. Rocking a leather couch (having a fabric couch with kids is insane) and minimal carpet. May use it on the one car with fabric seats but I only drive it and it’s pretty clean anyway.

    • Make sure the car fabric is free from the effects of sharting!!

    Purchased! Thanks OP

Harvey Norman don't sell anything for q fair price these days.

  • I have one and dont recommend for carpets as its ok to use for small patch, but takes lots of time to work it. No good, unless you have a lot of time to kill. I need one to do a whole carpet, I think I might hire, like the other chap mentioned.

  • wonder how it compares to the Stain Eraser?
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/bissell-stain-eraser-pet-cor…

    • Stain Eraser being battery operator will have lesser suction and limited time at one go.

    • Does the stain eraser have pro heat? It was going for around $100 at house with 25% off. Seems ok from reviews. Not sure less suction is a big issue for small spots.

  • This any good for car upholstery?

    • +1

      Yes it is

      • Thanks

  • +1

Bought one over a year ago, highly recommended.

  • That's a great bargain

  • Anyone tried a price beat at Officeworks?

    • +2

99% sure they won't price match it, as the model at HN has a different model number / colour etc to the models found elsewhere.

    • +2

Just tried. Different model. No price match.

      • +1

A lot of the times manufacturers assign different model numbers (for the same product) to different retailers to avoid price matching.

    • +2

Tried good guys. They price matched. Different models but I prefer purple which good guys stock.

    • +6

Just because you can't bring yourself to give it a thumbs up is not a reason for negging the deal. If you really don't like Mr Harvey (and no one does) buy things from him when you think he's losing money, and pay with paypal so he gets even less.

    • +3

Vote based on the deal itself not based on your emotions.

  • Anyone owning one which can cover both? Full carpets and spot clean for the car?

  • -8

I didn't neg the deal or give it the thumbs up I just my opinion as I am still aware that is a person's right in this country well for now at least

    • +6

What’s that big negative icon next to your username? Seems like you DID neg this post.

  • THanks OP good deal. Amazon want to charge us $60 more but without collecting GST

    • Amazon.com.au is the soft cock of the online market in Australia. A real let down….wa….wa….waaaaa

  • Thanks OP, ordered one c&c! 👍

Picked mine up today and cleaned my lounge suite (which was visually spotless) and I was amazed how well it performed, the waste water was black!

    Very happy with the purchase.

  • +1

Picked it up for $130 at my HN as I’ve previously purchased a lot of appliances through a sales rep at my local. Thanks OP!

  • +1

I use this to clean the car and spot clean carpets at home. It has a float that stops the machine from drawing too much water after it gets triggered (you can shove a pen between the slit to by pass this). Care should be taken to buy the correct formula as the other bissell ones made for bigger machines foam up too much. You could also use a defomer to reduce this. I've noticed that mine doesn't have too great a seal so it leaks a bit so something to look out for. I've you place it in a plastic container then no worries.

It's saved a few things during it's time and has paid for itself

  • +1

    Got one, thx.

  • Any recommendation for a bigger one for the carpets?
