I've started a petition to send to the Australian treasurer Scott Morrison to re-consider the GST on goods costing less than $1000 bought online. This will be done as soon as we reach at least 10,000 petitions.

Doing a strike might work better. Stop buying any product including locals. They might scrap GST to beg you buy and spend your money.
lmao. They'll just give us negative interest rates, or increase income tax.

I would very much rather fair a consumption tax than an income tax at any rate…
You really want to make things fair? make a difference? ABOLISH the GST completely!
And the massive shortfall in the budget comes from where exactly?

Not much chance of this making any difference considering both major political parties want to level the playing field between international online retailers and Australian retailers.
Can someone tell me how they will actually ENFORCE this ban?
I haven't seen recruitment for the 500 or so extra Border Force staff that can actually look through every bit of mail in the mail system!
Anyone know how they will enforce this law???

(Although Scott Morrison is no longer treasurer and at this rate of sign ups petition won't be send for another 42 years)
I really cant understand why anyone thinks they shouldnt pay consumption tax on something just because they imported it personally.
You got to be honest with yourself. Really you either have a government that provides a lot of services (some maybe unnecessary) or your can have lower taxes, you can't have both. If you all want your little tax exceptions and $75 bonuses and all these other schemes then well what do you expect.
If the government wants to tax this will they back me on warranties and Australian consumer law.
After all It has to be a 2 way street.
