TERMS & CONDITIONS: 25% off your first fashion purchase

The promotional code entitles any new customer to amazon.com.au (or an existing customer of amazon.com.au) who has not made a purchase from Amazon Fashion to 25% off your first purchase of eligible items made via the amazon app or amazon.com.au ("offer"). For the purpose of these terms and conditions “Amazon Fashion” refers to apparel, shoes, accessories, and watches and "eligible items" refers to any Amazon Fashion item sold by Amazon AU on amazon.com.au or Amazon app. Eligible items also excludes products sold by third party sellers (even if fulfilled by Amazon AU), digital purchases such as e-books, subscriptions such as Prime video and audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates. Amazon's standard delivery rates and policies apply to any purchase made pursuant to the offer. The promotional code can only be redeemed once per customer on eligible items and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. If Amazon considers a customer to be operating multiple accounts, those accounts will, for the purposes of this offer, be treated as one customer. To redeem the offer, once you have added eligible item(s) to your cart, enter the promotional code into the relevant field during the checkout process on amazon.com.au or Amazon app and your discount will be applied to the eligible items only. If you return any item purchased using the promotional code, Amazon AU will only refund the price actually paid for the item (that is, less the value of the promotional code) and the promotional code will be invalidated. The promotional code is not transferable and may not be resold. The promotional code will not apply to orders placed with 1-Click. If you violate any terms and conditions of the offer, your use of the promotional code will be invalid, and the discount will not apply. Amazon may elect to cancel a transaction (and refund monies paid) if Amazon considers that a customer is violating these terms or to address suspected misuse, abuse or fraud. Amazon reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time at its discretion. Amazon.com.au’s Conditions of Use and Sale apply. The offer is valid until 11:59PM (AEST) on July 13 2018.

I think with their lack-luster item listings on Amazon AU, they could offer 50% off and still wouldn't be anything worth getting. Now they're locking out international sites to Australian, they need to step up their local game.

    • Yea, the quantity and range is pretty pathetic, but there are some gems in the very limited selection. There's a bunch of The North Face Jackets and Vest and a couple decent Casio watch, including a protrek which is an excellent out-an-about watch (I own a 6 year old one).

    • +2

And all the women's tops are made for one boob

      • you mean that you don't have Symmastia ?

        • I was alluding to the amazons

    • I thought they were redirecting to .au but will have access to the full US range, albeit with GST added?

    • -7

I blame Today Tonight. So many stories on Amazon coming to Australia that I started to believe it was going to be bargains everyday. What a total let down…like fake viagra.

  • +7

AMAZON AU is such a rip off. Not worth buying anything at this stage. Have to wait for 2 years for them to drop their prices. Same thing happened in India when they launched.

    $95 for 2 cables lol.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Powerline-Lightning-Cable-Ce…

    • +7

This is third party seller not Amazon AU, they can price at any price.

    • +8

To be fair that's a private seller. It's like blaming ebay from the innumerous rip jobs on that site. It's part of the landscape.

      • -6

Still "Anker" is not like small private seller. Unless some third party small party stolen the name Anker and not an offical Anker seller.

        • +7

But it's not amazon. Apples and bananas…

        • Oops, edit out. Sorry

        • +4

Ships from and sold by Glendora.

          It's not Anker selling it

    • Doesn't even include shipping lmao.

    • I agree its a private seller, so Amazon just need to start selling basic by themselves. At least some of the top selling products in Australia to start capturing the market.

I just checked the cable again.

BuyGlobal $55 - Delivery 20 July (Location unknown)
      Glendora - $95 + $20 shipping - Delivery 19 Jun (Location CA, USA)

  • +5

    Aww amazon try harder..

  • +9

Oh no no Amazon AU, you're really poor value even with 25% off. For example, I purchased a Buon Vino mini filter wine pump from Amazon USA last week. Delivered for AU$219.

What does Amazon AU have to offer? AU$462.16 + $20 postage!

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Buon-Vino-Mini-Jet-Filter/dp/B0064…

Both are third party sellers shipped by Amazon.

  • +7

How much money did Amazon.com make off Australia, and why are they so happy to cut-off Australian customers?

Does anyone have any resources regarding these exact financial figures?

    • They hate our current liberal government for enacting this new consumption tax.

    • +3

It's because they didn't want to have to handle the GST inclusion for Australian purchases. But they can handle various state taxes, that are location specific. Go figure. Guess Australia Post and all other forwarding companies will enjoy the boost in profits/work.

      • +5

Exactly. Would have been incredibly easy to implement the GST inclusion. But Amazon thought they'd be clever, and force people to their Australian site, while blaming the Government for their decision.

Amazon is no different than every other retailer here - they want to screw us and make us pay the Australia tax. I'll be sticking to eBay, with their global marketplace.

        • Exactly.

The Australian website allows us to buy items from overseas, so legally they would have to charge us GST? Or is there a loophole that Amazon Australia orders the item in and then sells it from the AU site not requiring GST to be paid by the consumer?

Anyway as already mentioned elsewhere, Amazon smells of Harvey Norman.

    • They took the excuse of the new GST rule as an opportunity to promote their AU version.

  • +6

Think Amazon's gone out of fashion pretty quickly in Australia.

    • +3

Was it ever "in" to begin with? There was hype in the lead up to the launch then that was it.

      • +7

The hype was incredible. Local media was declaring the end of retail, the death of bricks and mortar, and OMG, here comes the Amazon monster to devastate all. Hide your kids.

What really happened? A damp squib. I've never ordered anything on Amazon AU while continuing to buy things from other online sources and Amazon USA. Amazon AU has always been very poor value for me. It's not unusual to see a product I want cost double or more from the 'local' Amazon.

        • +3

          Local media was declaring

To be fair, I think that's the problem was…

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember Amazon having a crazy launch party or anything themselves - it was all media and social media creating a huge buzz about it. They could've ridden the wave, but I don't think I saw a single marketing move by them to capitalize on it. But then, I'm an IT nerd, not a marketing/sales guy.

        • +1

Um their recent 2 vinyls for 1 with price match to jb hifi was incredible IMHO. Depends what you're after I guess.

    • -1

Meanwhile eBay has really lifted its game.

      • Yup, by price jacking..

      • Yea… No… all they did was price jack 20% or more and then run campaigns that give 20%.. replace the 20% with the occasional 10% or 15%, rinse and repeat. They're like Kathmandu..

  • +1

Levi's 511 for $51.75 shipped isn't bad. Cheaper than this previous deal in April https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/373904

    • +1

It's always cheaper than this at outlets

  • +6

Thanks for the deal, but with the current turn of events, I'm gunna boycott Amazon Au and Harvey Norman. Nice try Amazon.

    • +3

amazon fought tooth and nail not to charge tax, which they would of course, anything to get an edge over other business. Gerry Harvey is no different to any other business; he was just after a level playing ground. The real problem, if you see it as a problem, is gst

      • +1

But now that the tax must be collected, what better time to shaft us all onto the inflated Amazon AU, while blaming someone else.

Amazon already automatically calculates sales taxes for every US state, and each state is different.

        • You know more than me. I only trust big business to do whatever they can for profit. Whether it's legal or not doesn't matter to them; can they get away with it - that's all they're concerned with. So, you're preaching to the converted here :)

  • The $20 off for new accounts was really good, bought a lot, hopefully they bring that back again

  • +3

46 postive vote? What are people buying?

    • It’s not just clothing it’s watches sunglasses shoes etc.. but main thing is it lasts until 13jul so keep an eye on things as it will stack if it goes on sale

    • From my observation whenever a post has amazon in it there is a default 20-30 votes. Funny there’s only a couple of positive vote comments, OP included

    • +1

same people who upvote ebay 5% deals

    • +1

It stacks with the Van Heusen 40% off deal finishing Sunday night
      https://www.amazon.com.au/b?node=5637307051&pf_rd_p=942465f3…

      I bought 3 x $35 shirts + 1 x $34.27 tie for $48.74 delivered.

  • +2

A lot of this stuff looks like garbage you get off aliexpress, with the occasional branded garment for 1.5-2x the price you find elsewhere. Kind of good though, either retailers will realise they can't profit on hype and start offering much much better deals than what they are doing or lower the prices to make them feel more attractive to buy a piece of clothing online and not go to a store where you can try stuff on AND it be cheaper. Step your game up Amazon au

  • +1

    Lmao amazon au 2018

  • +1

Amazon are offering US products via Australia website. So wouldn't they then be charging GST as they are US sourced products? So therefore the system is already capable of charging us GST?

SCAM to get us to use Australian site and charge us more.

    • +2

So they say. I'll bet good money that there will still be TONS of stuff on Amazon U.S. that we wont have access to here.

  • +5

Sorry, Amazon you're now on my shit list!

  • -8

After the ban on Amazon USA Amazon AU can GF

    • -1

      Gluten free?

      • -1

Yeah gluten free also to the Amazon knights

    • I thought that everyone was unhappy about Amazon changes, then I post my unhappiness about it and 12 people downvote. I don't understand

      • What’s that got to do with the current deal.. maybe go in forums whinge about it there

        • Ahh for that. Fair enough. I wasn’t the only one anyway, I kinda jumped on the general whinging bandwagon.Take a look at the other posts.

        • @Laziofogna: likely disagreeing with the neg not the comment

        • +1

@RogueWolf: I’m sorry for that, it was more a neg to Amazon for the next changes, but I understand it looked like a neg for the post itself. I’ll be more careful in the future. Cheers

        • @Laziofogna: no probs… understand your point & knew your neg was referring to amazon n not the deal, but if everyone voted that way all deals would be negged as someone will have an issue with the store for some reason or another… all good 👍

  • +1

    #BoycottAmazonAU

It won't be hard for me. Can't find a single thing I want there anyway.

  • The blundstones seem like a good deal. $90 on Amazon with the code vs $120 to $180 elsewhere

  • How do you stack this with the AMAZON20 code?

    • you cant
