It says more than 10 available.

  • any recommended subwoofer to accompany this? affordable and quite decent one, if possible =)

    • how many dollars is affordable?

      • haha I should have said "cheap" … the soundbar cost $159, so is there something less than that? or similar?

        • +1

Sorry you're dreaming mate. Decent subwoofer costs at around $300+. Best I could find is a Yamaha NS-SW050 for $291.65 delivered: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/182885177452

If you want cheaper than that you'd be looking at a second hand one on gumtree.

        • @Ryballs: what’s up with all those screws behind subwoofer?

        • @No ONE: Well the back plate is attached to the amplifier which is fairly heavy, so I guess that's why it needs to be so well secured? shrugs

One good thing about buying a separate subwoofer is if you ever upgrade to a better soundbar or proper home theatre, you can still reuse the subwoofer.

    • +1

I had the 105 and it had a huge amount of bass even without a subwoofer. That was in a 50m2 apartment though.

    • It has surprisingly good bass, so there's a good chance you might be happy without one anyway.

We have this one on the tv kitchen, while obviously not as good as a full HT system, if you're getting this your usage probably doesn't need a sub anyway.

As per last deal, I had to change my primary postal address to Sydney cbd, as this allowed me to add the item to the shopping cart. Once at the payment and delivery page, I was able to select "click and collect" from the Belconnen or Fyswick stores.
It currently shows that both the above Canberra stores have stock, but eBay doesn't allow you to add it to your cart as Canberra is classed as regional nsw.

    • Thanks for the workaround tip. I'm in Canberra as well.

  • Thanks, missed the last deal. Not this time :)

got one last time and love the sound for the price i was surprised. highly recommend this unit.

    • only thing with this unit is for some reason i can't get it to auto switch on with my hisense 55N7
i always have to go to the settings to set it to the sound bar which is a bit annoying.

i need to find out how to auto switch to this sound bar but agree its a pretty good sound bar :)

      • +4

For it to automatically switch on you need to have it connected via HMDI cable and make sure its coming out of the ARC- HDMI socket on the TV and into the ARC (OUTPUT) socket on the sound bar. Then I think I just followed the instructions in the manual for setting up an ARC connection. Took a bit of messing around but its been working perfectly since I set it up on my 50N7.

        • Same same on 65n7

          Fine using hdmi/arc

        • yeah thats what i've done too, connected it via ARC-HDMI and arc output on the sound bar but it just revokes to TV speakers everytime..
maybe i might reset it or swap the HDMI cable around and see if that does the trick..

        • @prankster:

From memory… u need to enable CEC….. something like that.

  • Just got one! Thank you thank you.

  • still worth it if im based in Melbourne and have to pay $20 delivery?

  • Holy moley free pickup?! These guys are so generous.

  • Got this one last deal, significantly better than TV audio.

    • +1

that's not much of an achievement though ;)

      • I won't argue that, just got nothing else to compare with except Headphones.

  • Great soundbar for the price.

  • Got this when it started to appear at sub 200!Really great value!

  • missed out last time - cheer op!

  • Got one from last deal. Highly recommended. It's great and way better than TV speakers.

  • anyone have this with a hisense n7? having issues connecting it and working through CEC

    • Works fine did you connect it to ARC
      Also update tv firmware

  • Got one thanks. It was like $299 at Harvey Norman.

  • Guys need advice here - I am after a good surround system and is this any good compared to soundbar that cost $900+?

  • Should I stick with my Logitech Z623 2.1 speakers or go for this soundbar? Thanking in advance! :)

    • +1

Same boat. Though I’m looking more so at the YAS-207.

    • +1

in the last thread, people were saying this would definitely be better than the z623.

But, I changed from that, and… Idk.. I'm happier because of the form factor and auto turning on-off, but I think the z623 sounded a bit better. z623 had better bass, i suppose because of the bass unit. I think the yamaha sounds warmer and more homely though. I'm still happy but yeah, it's not an upgrade in every way is what I'd say. I'm no audio expert though.

      • +1

You can buy a sub and add to this though. It has room for expandability.

        • Yeah I suppose so, but then you have to make sure it's a good sub. I have this massive sony sub that I added to mine to test, and it sounded awful, but granted that bass sounded just as bad on my last unit too ^_^.

  • +1

    Thank you OP.
Missed the last deal that expired 2wks ago and was kicking myself
Luckily checked ozb tonight, and luckily not already sold out, many scavengers out there!

How long until you can go pick it up? the order confirmation said June 7th but that seems excessive wait time to go pick up….

  • +1

Anyone know if The Good Guys or other places would price match the Bing Lee price in Adelaide? Even if Bing Lee wont ship here?

  • My order was ready to pickup on the same day.

  • I am unable to connect this to my Samsung TV via bluetooth it does work connecting to my s8 though anyone know why?

    • +1

The bluetooth on most TVs is very limited. Why don't you use optical or HDMI ARC?

  • How do you guys get the virtual x to work? The blue light on the display stating virtual x is never ok for me? I have connected via optical as my rv doesn’t have a HDMI arc.

Is virtual x depends on whether the movie or channel has that quality?

    • It should cycle through the various modes if you keep hitting the "surround" button on the remote. I have mine connected via an analog cable and it works. It's nothing to do with the connection to the soundbar afaik, just processing that occurs internally.

      Edit: What is DTS® Virtual:X™?

  • Thanks for the detailed response.. Well mine doesn’t seem to go there.. I read somewhere that the firmware might have to be updated.. Might give that a go and see if it works!

Out of curiosity is there a notable difference?

    • Yeah, the difference between general surround (green light) and 3D surround (blue light a.k.a. Virtual:X) is noticeable.

Note that when I'm listening to a 2 channel source (i.e. TV sources) the only light that is blue on my unit when 3D surround is selected is the "surround" light. DD/DTS and DPL aren't lit as the audio source isn't detected as being any of those three. That doesn't mean that DTS Virtual:X isn't enabled as that's purely in-unit processing magic.

At the end of the day it's still simulated surround so it's all brain trickery using delays and other effects. It sounds pretty good but it's in no way a substitute for a true surround system. Best way I can describe it is that all sounds seem to have more "space" in the overall sound stage. YMMV but it blows away the crappy in built speakers on my TCL TV.

Worth checking whether your unit is up to date using the firmware update. Mine was already up to date out of the box. Go here for the download.

  • Am I suppose to plug hdmi cable into regular hdmi-in port on tv and the hdmi arc-out port on the soundbar?
or into the hdmi-arc port on tv and regular hdmi-in port on soundbar?
    or hdmi-arc ports on both?

went into tv menu and hdmi cec is turned on

but no sound transmitting to soundbar. soundbar set to hdmi source.

works via analogue aux cable though so thats fine anyway but anyone know how to get hdmi sound working?

    • -2

HDMI-ARC on both, then select HDMI as the source on the remote.

      • Nothing comes out when I select HDMI. Need to change to tv. Tv remote also controls yas. Both on arc HDMI ports

        • Selecting HDMI is when you've connected a settop box/bluray player/HTPC into the YAS 'HDMI IN' port and want to use it as the sound source.

      • +2

        No. Tv as source.

    • I had to turn the power off on all the units after selecting HDMI-CEC ARC. Then powering the tv on after 5 minutes. Then it all worked.

The connection should be HDMI ARC from TV to OUT (ARC) port on YAS. One single hdmi cable does it all.

  • picked it up & installed today - such an improvement!

Why is the Yamaha better than the Pioneer from Kogan???? .

    • No HDMI ports on the Pioneer so won't integrate as seamlessly with other HT equipment.

No DTS Virtual:X on the Pioneer as far as I can tell.

Has a separate sub which may work for some but won't for others with limited space.

Really it's up to you to compare and contrast: https://au.yamaha.com/en/products/audio_visual/sound_bar/yas…

      • Thank you. Really appreciate you answering. HDMI big diff.

  • Back in stock

    • Ah man I thought this would be out of stock till sale is over.

Oh well only lost $30 doing the Betta deal lol

  • Anyone know if they ship with the latest firmware. My app says 10.0 but I can't find what the latest version number is. I do have the blue surround led

    • what app?

      • Yamaha home theatre controller

      • If you connect your ios phone via bluetooth to the sound bar… the app wants to be installed.

  • Difference between ATS-1060 from previous deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/343979) in 2017 vs Yas107 from this deal ?
Not sure if I should buy another sound bar for bedroom or skip since not much difference.

  • Are you guys using this with virtual surround mode or normal?

    • Surround mode is my preference.

  • A question for all the audio experts, should i have my Hisense 65N7 output set to dolby digital or PCM? (connected and working with HDMI (ARC))

With dolby output the DTS green light on the sound bar is lit, with PCM output the DPL green light on the sound bar is lit. Is it just a case of what unit does the decoding?

    Thanks

  • Just bought one and picked up binglee store on the same day for replacing my crappy Phillips HTL2163B. I just installed and used it to watch interstellar. I am very pleased from its performance. It exceeded every aspect of HTL2163B.
