  • What are people’s thoughts about moving down from 144hz 1440p to 100Hz 1440p? Would there be much difference?

    • +5

You should be able to set your refresh rate to 100hz on a 144hz monitor to test and see.
Would just be in NVidia control panel, or I'm sure AMD would have the same.

Might be even possible to do on monitor as well.

      • Good thinking :p

        • Would be keen to hear your thoughts.. not that i own a 144hz but considering one of these 100hz or alternatively waiting for a 144hz version

    • Roughly 44hz worth of difference.

    • +2

      I went from the X34 100Hz to a 32" 144Hz 1440p..

Can't say I noticed any significant difference

    • +1

I went from a BenQ 144 to this, I sold it and went back to a BenQ 144. This is pretty don't get me wrong sometimes I would just sit and look at it but it never felt right gaming on it. My 2c.

    • Depends what you're playing. I was looking into getting an ultrawide for a while and set my fps to 100hz to test out and in made a significant difference in CS Go and overwatch (which I was playing at the time)
But wasnt able to notice it when playing shadow of war and hellblade (these were the games I was playing at the time I considered getting an ultrawide)

    • +1

The main thing you're getting here is a higher, ultrawide resolution of 3440x1440p vs 2560x1440. With this higher res you will need a bit more GPU power.

I'm rocking a 3440x1440p 60hz ultrawide and love it, would never go back to 16:9 ratio again. The wider FOV and immersion is amazing.

A lot of people who play competitive shooters like CS:GO don't like the ultrawide as those games often won't scale perfectly to the screen and don't offer the slightly higher refresh rate.

  • Damn that’s cheap paid $1600 for mine

    • +1

1600? is yours the Acer x34p thats currently 1600 this is the older model =/

  • Good price for a retailer with stores for easy returns. Came down to 1036 I believe on the last 20% off PASSWORD sale.

No stock at my local unfortunately

  • +2

If you have 3 AMEX HN deals https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/381616 and split payments you can shave off another $150 from the screen

  • +7

Would rather give my money to PCCasegear than old Gerry atm.

    • +1

      you have my vote mate

    • +2

      Amen to that.

I'd rather pay extra to PCCG for the convenience of having it delivered to my door and not having to step foot in one of the parasite's stores.

  • +1

Wasn't expecting to pay $1K for a monitor this morning when I woke up…. and yet here we are.

    • Just woke up ?

      • he was gaming all night
        correction: matrixing all night.

    • Does yours have any issues? I had to return mine 100hz flickering

      • I just got one today and when OC to 100hz its flickering as well. I'll need to take mine as well.

Did you manage to it swapped with one that works?

Can I ask which HN you took it back it to?

  • +1

I was about to post this one when I saw it in the shops today! It's a good deal.

I was fortunate that my X34 which I got a year ago from JB Hifi in Bondi hits 100hz without any issues… but not everyone on the internet is so lucky.

  • The Samsung Evo 64GB microSD looks to be the same price at Officeworks (with possibly less in store stock) if that matters to anyone

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/samsung-ev…

Also, Noodle Maker link kaput? Out of stock?

  • I only have AMD card, would the Acer Predator G-Sync still worth it? Or should i just stick to one with freesync?

    • Adaptive Sync is always nice. If you don't intend to switch to a nVidia card, might be worthwhile just to get a Freesync monitor, as G-Sync is not compatible with AMD cards.
