Another vote for ABB. Just passed my free first month, very happy with the speed 100/40, no peak evening slow downs compared to MR. Support is awesome too!

  • +2

    1 free month of 250/100 😮
    Don't mind if I do!

  • I've signed up for the preordera week ago. Any chance I cancel that and apply again with this code?

  • +1

12Mb/s plans no longer selectable - why?

  • Got a free month with ABB after the demise of Buzztelco. Speed is amazing, customer service is excellent. I left after one month for a cheaper company, and ABB went above and beyond to help me transition my voip number to the other provider.

TL; DR - ABB is an A1 service provider.

  • +2

I've been waiting for a deal like this to resurface for months now! I even messaged the director on Whirlpool to see if he could sort something out, then this shows up on OzBargain - perfect timing!

I haven't even had my service connected and I'm already enjoying the customer service - the constant updates via email and text are welcome. I even called the call centre to update my delivery address and receive a confirmation message that the modem has already been shipped AND to the new address too.

    Looking forward to this!!

  • even for adsl would the switch be worth it over telstra? getting ping spikes/loss spikes when playing games and its frustrating.

  • What will happen after first month?

    • +1

You get charged their regular price? Or you can leave, as they are month-by-month (no contract).

    • Your charges will reflect the plan of choice after the first month - cheers, ABB

      • So how and when I can cancel it without charge?

        • You need to give 30 days notice as per the terms and conditions.

Therefore you need to cancel on the first day.

      • Hi Rep,

Can I use data only plan, and stay voip with Telstra?

        Cheers

      • Can I get 100/40 on the first free month and change to 50/20 afterward?

        • yes! Just log on to your ABB account and change the slider before bill is due.

  • +2

Just signed up for 100/40. Awesome!

  • These guys sound great and I really wanted to sign up with them, but for Fixed Wireless customers, they cannot provide unlimited data, which is a real deal breaker for us.

  • Does this apply to pre-orders? I'm meant to be getting NBN sometime in June :)

    • Yes, it worked - I successfully pre-ordered with the code and it said my first month will be free :)

  • it says invalid promocode. !

    • Hi PriUdu, the code is definitely still valid until midnight tonight AEST - cheers, ABB

      • tried twice; same response. can send you the screenshot if you want.

  • +2

Signed up today by phone and asked if I could get the free month since my application was under process (and could still be cancelled within three days) and I just noticed this online promo. But they said the system won't allow it and I would have to wait 30 days. Bit silly ABB. I'll wait 30 days to shop around then like a true Ozbargainer

  • -2

$15 a month more than *** lol whatever

  • Hi Rep,

I am in contract finishing in 5 weeks. Can I sign up today and start for later date?

    • i hope so! see above, webbiegareth
they pre-ordered and stated not to start the service till a later date

That's what i did too … my second month with Telecube just rolled over a few days ago and it has been a horrible first month with them …
So I'm deferring my ABB connection for … 28 days HA

      • +1

Man… I think whirlpool just loves telecube cause the reps are active and transparent with all the sruffup they're going through.

I've been a sucker to skymesh and telecube because of this but I swear, vocus just sucks~~~ their reliability is horrendous even though they can get good 'speed tests'.

  • Hi Rep, my buddy is still on TPG adsl2+ , but his address is NBN ready (HFC) - received notice from TPG/NBN to upgrade.

Your site still says no NBN on his address and only can sign up for adsl2+. Mind to advise how to put an order on NBN instead ?

  • I see they sell Netcomm hardware. Are these devices any good, or are there better bargains to be had?

    • +2

I would source my own router if I were you

    • +1

I bought the Netcomm router ABB sell from a different store and saved $40

      • Are you happy with it? I've only every used Billion, TP and Linksys home routers.

        • Yeah, it does the job and don't have issues with it. But can't speak for other people.

      • Mind if I ask the name of the store?

  • +2

Been with aussie for about 3 years , now have satellite nbn because we live remote, absolutely great and great customer service, and no not associated with aussie except a happy customer

  • +1

NBN connected my address as of yesterday, and availablility check doesn't show the address yet, so wish to sign up today.
As metioned above - someone successfully pre-ordered with the code. But for my address receive this:
…. Unfortunately NBN have a stop sell on all HFC services, and we are unable to process your order at this time. We will continue to monitor the rollout on your behalf, free of charge and as soon as the rollout to your area begins we will SMS you to let you know. If you have any further questions you can call our friendly, expert consultants on ….
Any options before midnight tonight, OP, please? Thank you!

  • +1

Great speeds. No issues in 18 months.

  • $10 a month more expensive than MyRepublic - which im on a 50Mb service - $69/Month unlimited.

While I am looking around for a better ISP - I don't know if $10. a month makes the change worth it.

I get about 42Mb sync on myrepublic and it keeps above 40Mb most of the day/night - support not as great, but if you only need it once a year, does it matter.

Rep - if your prices were $10 less a month, you would have my business

    • +1

Don't judge just by speeds, gotta judge based on buffering, reliability, ping times, do I even need unlimited? etc.

If it's only $10, 1 month free is equivalent to half a year with myrepublic anyway.

After half a year and you still think it's not worth it, just move back.

Just think of AussieBB as Telstra and Myrepublic as Optus, what's Telstra famous for and what's Optus famous for, and that's your answer.

      • Agree; service factors a must. In my area a lot of very unhappy Optus customers who kept people stuck on their contracts, even though they did not deliver. Believe class action, went to court and customers won. Nothing for the stress of it all though. I don't like Telstra either as they unscrupulously tried to con my senior mother into accepting an expensive service years ago. Early NBN here; I signed up with Belong over 3 years, on standard speed, as cheapest, only 100 GB, free modem, and no contract; still with them now. I did eventually go on contract to go on unlimited and save a few dollars too. I think something like Aussie or Belong to trial first, then if not happy try another. I wouldn't trust any initial contract with any company; try before you buy … on contract.

        • +1

Not sure if you know, but Belong is a Tel$tra-launched "no-frills" Internet Service Provider.

        • @robinCTS: Yes 😉, I know now (modem says "powered by Telstra" … aaargh) but not at the time, or I would most definitely have gone elsewhere! Vodafone was not offering NBN then or I would have probably joined them, as have had a good run with them in mobile plans before Kogan Mobile. Managed pretty well with only the 100 GB too; we don't need landline phone too. (Do more catch up TV etc these days). I just went with the cheapest available without a contract at the time.

My mother (her area not yet on NBN) is considering TPG (with phone), but we'll compare with Aussie too.

  • One minute after I signed up, my current connection stopped. I still haven't got a confirmation email or anything. How long should I expect before the connection?

    • Got connection quite quickly. Got 65/28 on FTTN, slightly better than the amaysim's 63/27. Ping is much better now at 6ms, it was more than 20ms with amaysim.

      • Ya I was shocked at how fast it connected when I first signed up… Like an hour or something, signed up at 9pm, was up and running when checked at 11pm…

The improvements from skymesh to AussieBB shocked for me too, no more buffering on YouTube, skymesh would buffer or loop whenever I fast forward skip scenes back then.

        Thought my router/wifi signal sucked.

  • I would join if you can bring back double date offer

    • count me in , happy to join the double date

  • Well I did a pre-order… hopefully I can get connected this month (as estimated on nbnco)

  • Hi , I just signed up a week ago and haven't been connected yet . Can I still get this promo ?

    • The answer is no.

      From the deal (my emphasis):

all new customers who sign up online today

      and

This offer is not available to be applied to any retrospective orders.

Also confirmed by the Store Rep here.

      • Sadz 😣

    • Read up more and u will find your answer.

  • CommsDay Edison Awards? How meaningful are these if Telstra won best ISP last year and especially that Ziggy Switkowski was inducted to its hall of fame.

    • +1

Telstra are the only ISP I've been on in the last 3 years that has had absolutely zero issues at 100/40. Speed didn't dip once. Ping didn't dip once. Only had one outage the whole 3 years. International speeds were only slightly less than local.

Am trying out ABB now, but not cancelling Telstra just yet.

  • I had enough with MR, time to move away.

Although speedtest no slow down during peak but P2P streaming not watchable at all and they messed up with my static IP and no static IP for 3 days still don't know when they will restore it. I have a few setup base on the static IP.

    • AussieBB dynamic ip sticks to you like glue… Still got the same ip in 2 months even though I disconnected the router for 4 days.

You won't have to pay extra for that static ip unless it's really really important that you can't change the ip once a year or something.

  • Activated on another UNI-D port in about 20 mins from sign up. All seems fine so far. International speeds are most important to me, so we'll see how we go.

EDIT: Comparing to Telstra 100/40 which I haven't had a single problem with in 2 years.

    • Try using the primary dns 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1, it improved my browsing experience further.

  • Not being applied to preorders sucks lol. Almost enough to make me try out a another provider later on, then just join back with them when they have it again.

    • The deal actually does apply to new preorders that are signed up today. (Within a reasonable presale period - up to 3 months. See this comment by AussieBB Rep.)

It just doesn't apply retrospectively to pre-existing preorders.

  • Is that mean I can sign up for 100/40 and get the first month free and if necessary downgrade it back to 50/20 next month?

I am on MR's FTTN is it normally very quick?

    • +2

Yeah the plans are customizable, you can downgrade once a month before the billing date, or upgrade as much as you want throughout the month and pay the difference.

The new plans usually take affect immediately or within 15mins as what the user facility says.

      • Thanks in that case I will try 100/40 to see if I really need that speed.

  • +1

I signed up a few months ago and bought their premium modem. Week later I got a txt that the transfer was complete and to plug in the modem. Next 6 weeks, speed sucked ass.
at that 6 week mark, I realised I was being fully billed by both Optus and Aussie BB. When I called support they went opps, you are still with Optus and push a button and I was with Aussie BB.
THEY COULDNT TELL ME WHEN i WAS WITH AUSSIE BB OR DATES WHEN i MOVED OVER or IF i DID ACTUALLY LEAVE OPTUS. THEY ALSO REFUSED TO GIVE ME A CREDIT FOR THE TIME AS WELL.

6 weeks double billed and a big who cares scumbag.

    Mod: Foul Language

Oh, The password you sign up with is NOT encrypted on the email they send you for sign up AND you modem password. Means the whole Tech team knows your password. DO NOT USE ANY PASSWORD YOU USE FOR OTHER STUFF. Important info there.

    • -1

yeah your thread is already famous enough , no need to repeat here

      • +4

Do you not think my experience as a New customer and problems that come with it isn't relevant to new customers here. Or just think everyone that read this post read the last one.

  • +3

Best internet provider in Oz without a doubt.

  • I just transferred my FTTN service over from Leaptel. Entire process took less than an hour - super impressed with the automated provisioning. All I had to do was turn off PPPoE on my router and it switched to DHCP automatically.

    Some things I've learned:
-PPPoE authentication added 2-3mbps overhead on my 100/40 plan. After switching to Aussie my max speed on Speedtest is now 96mbps versus 93mbps on Leaptel.
-Aussie's international speeds are excellent. Testing on the Los Angeles - Time Warner Cable server the max I could get was 35mbps on Leaptel versus 83mbps on Aussie.

    http://www.speedtest.net/result/7354775833
    http://www.speedtest.net/result/7354779642

Very happy, but I'll probably end up switching to Telecube whose cheaper offerings better suit my actual usage.

    • I just transferred my FTTN service over from Leaptel.

They can do it at night?

      • It's automated (I think).

        • I know but will they process it at late night?

Like mobile phone they will not port you over after 8pm I think.

        • @superforever: I don't know, I signed up around 5:30pm. You will still get the first month free either way.

    • +1

Telecube… Been there and not going back.

I'm paying abit more at AussieBB for half the speed and bandwidth than what I had with Telecube, i dwelled on for ages between the 1TB 100Mbps vs AussieBB, and the end result was just so so much better.

    • +2

I tested Telecube 100/40 alongside Aussie Broadband (FTTN 50/20) and Telstra 100/40 and found that Telecube's international service was SIGNIFICANTLY worse during peak times than both telstra and aussie BB. Tested on several nights too.

      E.G. Telstra: 85.81/6.24
      Telecube: 19.67/3.16

This was at the same premises on a different UNI-D port.

      • Thanks for the effort.

I usually just watch anime from gogoanime.io so when old shows hosted on mp4upload, openload etc don't work or stutters like crazy… It pisses me off big time because I gotta find alternative sites and servers.

Facebook/Google servers never seemed to lag though.

      • Yeah thanks for the warning about Telecube guys. My parents are actually with Telecube on FTTP 100/40, so I know all about their troubles. When I've stayed with them and used their connection I didn't experience any major issues. Lately their connection seems fine (or they just haven't said anything about it). My dad is able to stream video from an international source fairly well (though he only watches at 720p, so I guess 3-4mbps isn't a big deal to buffer). I'm planning on giving them a shot and if it doesn't work out I'll just come back to Aussie (yay for no contracts!). I won't be switching unless they offer the discount deals again anyway (none active right now). :)

I'm getting strangely poor international upload speeds with AussieBB at the moment actually: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2673725&… What are uploads for you two like?

  • Too bad promo code finish tonight.

Will only move to my new place mid-july :(

  • +1

Thanks OP, just signed up. Been meaning to switch to Aussie, it's been a nightmare dealing with Telstra's call centre over the last few months with all the HFC NBN dropouts we've been having.

  • I feel like I should know the answer to this…do I need to notify my current ISP about this, or does their service automatically terminate when it churns over?

    • FTTP can have multiple ISP at one address so you need to notify previous provider.

Better to double check with previous provider anyway after your new connection is up and running, whether you need to notify or not depends on what infrastructure your premises is using.

Back in the days adsl you didn't have to notify anybody because retailers were running everything through 1 telstra line per household… You sign up to new provider, the previous one disconnects.
It's still the same for gas/electricity.

    • I was with TPG and had to cancel even after my adsl plan had stopped and I was on NBN with another company . Of course I had to give 30 days notice as well so I ended up having to pay for nearly 2 months …
I think this a pretty big scam that needs to be changed by the TIO .
Spewing I missed this deal as I was with Telecube for less than 2 weeks and they are jacking my plan from $75 to $85/month

  • Mine just churned over after about an hours downtime. When do I receive a username and password for My Aussie so I can manage the account?

  • OK signed up see if they will churn me over that late.

  • Can I use my Telstra NBN modem with this instead of buying a new one?

    • +1

Yup! I've been using mine without any issues.

      • Yay! Thanks. :-D

  • AussieBB is awesome - the owner even reached out to me to resolve an issue I had. network is uncongested to boot :)

  • Signed up 30m ago and my current MyRepublic nbn just dropped out…what the deuce? Now what??

    • Update: woke up this morning and I'm on Aussie. No muss, no fuss. Thanks Aussie!

And goodbye MyPubic, a more dreadful experience I've never had! Stay away.

      • And goodbye MyPubic, a more dreadful experience I've never had! Stay away.

        Same here.

Even speedtest no slow down day and night with MR but P2P streaming won't work at all. MR is blocking P2P.

  • +4

Yesterday I was on the fence weather or not to switch back to Aussie, as I'm pretty underwhelmed with my telecube performance so far. Decided to just leave it be.

This morning I receive a email advising my telecube 100/40 1000gb will go up from $69 to $85 per month. Wish I had switched now…

OP if you extend the offer for one more day, this will be a perfect time to poach back all the customers telecube poached originally.

    • Agreed..

      • Same here. I'll leave today if you can extend this out.

    • Agreed

    • Same here, quite disappointed with Telecube tbh. They ran 100/40 promos so often lately it seem like they were trying to lure customers.

    • Totally agreed.
Just read my email about the increase from $70 to $85 which was their normal pricing.

Very disappointed and looks like most likely move I'll over

      • Yes agreed, i am not going to pay any additional to telecube, service was ok few months back. But not now, & they wanted to charge more. I am looking around

    • +1

Same.. i've been on the fence (I just had a Telecube outage that took nearly a week to resolve because their support is uncontactable) and decided to give Telecube one more chance. Then they jacked the price and I can no longer justify the low-price-but-no-support experience.
