It's still a great price for the form factor though.
It's light and the material is premium. Track pad is one of the smoothest I've used.
I really don't get the love for premium materials. Most metal devices feel thin and hollow.
Just means they can charge more for something.
@Gharvey Snruff: Costs them more too though.
@Gharvey Snruff: Same here. It's heavy, cold on the hands in winter, dents when dropped.
@johnno07: nah, as opposed to pretty much no damage at all
Iirc the difference between 6th and 7th was battery life but not much performance. It’s the 7th to 8th that’s all performance.
Is it ok for Lightroom use and light video editing?
I love it for the portability ..
Easily does both those tasks.
yes, and doing detailed edits with the pen is great
equivalent to a 5 year old quad core i7 laptop.
This lappy is awesome. For a normal non gamer (that's why I have XB1) this is awesome.
I got a PC for XBOX and PC gaming, and a PS4 for PS exclusives. It's the gamers way ;-)
There's also the 512GB HDD, 16GB RAM, i7 for $1,600 after discount.

where to see the specs ?
gtx 965m or IGP ?
it looks like all the i7 have a gtx in there somewhere but i can't seem to find the specs for this either.
unless it needs to be mentioned performance base? anyone can confirm?
not sure guys, I definitely don't rate the level of content in the description lol
All i7 models, and the 256GB i5 model have dedicated graphics cards in the first generation Surface Book. It's only the 128GB/8GB Surface Book which used integrated graphics.
I'm certain this one has the 940m. Only the "performance base" version has the 965m. i5 versions have IGP I think.
so the 1,699 version - 20% = 1,359 … is integrated graphics ?
Yes, the other Surfacebooks have integrated graphics only. They also have worse specs.
The $1.6k Surfacbook is integrated graphics, but this one: eems to have a dedicated graphics card.
yep. if it says performance base that means it has a dedicated gpu in the base. It's a bit outdated but still a kick ass machine.
so that 512gb i7 linked in dengziyi comment is IGP only ?

@phunkydude: After having more a search, I'm not sure if it has dgpu. It's extremely ambiguous. Since it's the same price as the Performance Base, it's probably better to assume it is only integrated.
CR7-00004 is the model that the ebay store is selling

2 generations behind for the CPU and the video card is a previous gen also. Very overpriced.
if you don't care about tablet/pen it's a bit outdated sure. but if you do like the tablet part, it's a steal.
What would you suggest as a similarly priced alternative? Genuine question, I need a new laptop, mine is taped together
Overpriced even after 20% off
was hoping to grab a surface pro…
Still some good specs and would get the job done on a lot of things, but feels like a lot to spend on 1st gen SB which was like 2015.
Got it. Best laptop I ever had. Beautiful screen, excellent speakers.
If you only can have 1 laptop/tablet, this is the one.
So overpriced for a 6th gen cpu….rest of the device is irrelevant.
