[NSW & VIC] Free Canberra Activities Cans (Free Tickets, Vouchers, Discounts to Canberra Attractions)

210

This week VisitCanberra is launching its new marketing campaign, Canberra in a Can designed to showcase the diversity of experiences in Canberra and offer Australians a taste of the capital.
Aiming to increase awareness and consideration of Canberra as a tourism destination, Canberra themed vending machines will be set up in areas of high foot traffic in Sydney and Melbourne between 25 and 31 May 2018.
The vending machines will contain Canberra branded cans that will offer visitors to the sites a gift from Canberra, a sample of the many experiences available in the capital. The cans contain free experiences, tickets, vouchers, offers and discounts ranging from tickets to the National Gallery of Australia's Cartier: The Exhibition to a night at Jamala Wildlife Lodge, and from family passes to Questacon to a Make-Your-Own glassworks experience at Canberra Glassworks.

Guess you just lob up to VM & make a selection & see what prize is in can?

    National war museum is fascinating.
I went to (put up with) Canberra just for this. Saw the original Owengun developmental models, saw the nurses uniforms with machine gun holes from the Japanese. Saw Thai-Burma railway exhibitions.
Its an amazing resourse. Shame its stuck in Canberra.

It is misleading to suggest that Canberra is a tourist destination.

Please do stay away, you are clogging up our streets. I mean, just the other day there were like 5 cars in front of me and I blame tourists

I'm sorry to hear you live in Canberra.

        • Pays well though if you can put up with the boredom.

It has very nice public parks and gardens (probably the best of any city I have seen in Australia) .
Floriade is nice, massive flower festival.
Very nice for cycling, everyone riding bikes round, as the city is set up for it.
      Questacon is also good.
It has national museums and art galleries also which are good (and many or most for free) . I haven't been there for years, but they had an old motorcycle exhibition in the national museum, free entry.
National war museum is definitely worth seeing.
Parliment is alright too, go stir the pollies up from public gallery 😆 .
Whether it is a tourist location depends on your tastes and likes really .
I live in supposed tourist destinations, but sometimes its nice for something different other than sunny touristy beaches etc.
Canberra is freezing though, so anyone going there from NSW coastal towns, should rug up, take some very warm clothes, as its much colder than what we are used to.

It's almost a grand a night at that Jamala Wildlife Lodge.

Canberra is awesome, as recognised by the Lonely Planet who nominated it the third best in the world to visit in 2018.

  • I got a free sightseeing cruise on a lake somewhere. I picked "expand horizons".

You have to put in your name, email and a postcode in a tablet, which gives you a code to use on the vending machine.

  • Is this on today at Fed Square. Was thinking of taking a look. Would need to leave here at 7. Given it goes to 4pm assume they have lots of cans.

  • Got a $20 second night at Crown Plaza. Assume though that 1 night stays wouldnt ve cheap there. We normally stay at budgwt hotels. Promo girls were so excited. One said she would have loved it. Was after the Cartier discount or glassworks. At end of day ill sprend more going there, but might be worth a break. Might just send my partner. Wonder whether there is any cheap flights to Canberra at moment. Mmm. That would help.

    • Off to Canberra next week to use the voucher we received. Do save on accommodation cost, but driving there, food, and entertainment will be way over what the saving was.
