Travel Insurance Advice Needed Thanks to Trump and Kim

Trump and Kim (the two most controversial world leaders) are said to be meeting in Singapore on June 12th - one day before I'm flying there.

This is a family holiday that we've spent a heap of money on and everything is booked - the last thing we need to do is get travel insurance.

Is anyone aware of a company that provides cover for cancellation costs due to terrorism? The closest all my searches have come is to a report from Canstar saying there are 21 that do… but then fails to list the names of any of them.

(Edited to clarify the need to get travel insurance)

    How dare they meet in Singapore and cause you a headache!

    I personally wouldn't call 'rocket man' controversial, I'd call him one of the worlds most oppressive leaders.

    "the last thing we need to do is get travel insurance."

    really, for an OS trip?

    .

    • Sorry, that was really poorly worded.

      What I meant to say is that everything else is booked except travel insurance, which is the last job on the list.

        Generally it should be one of the first things on the list.

          @greenpossum:

          I beg your pardon?

          @iforgotmysocks: he's always forgetting them….

        • This. Book flights, immediately book insurance after.
          Anything could happen once flights are booked.

    Karl Marx will be cackling in his grave. the MSM supporting Kim and hating Trump!

  • Stop worrying, take a risk and photobomb the meeting.

    • That would be golden but unfortunately we don't arrive until a day later.

      When travelling with toddlers, there's always worry unfortunately…

  • best thing is to go to the travel insurance websites and bring up their T&Cs.

    do a word search for "terrorism" , "terror" , "Trump" , "Kim Jong-un"

    and go from there.

    • Trawling through the PDS seems to be my only option. It's taking forever though!

  • I assume you are thinking the chance of a terrorist attack is greater because of the meeting? I would think there is actually less chance because of all the extra security.

    • who would have thought you can have multiple civilian planes gone off course from flight path and running into buildings of a strongest nation with biggest air force.

      It'll happen if someone allow it to happen.

    • I think the chance of cancellations to my holiday is far more likely now that these guys are in town. Insurance can use "political unrest" as a reason to deny a claim and I want to make sure all my bases are covered.

      Security will be incredibly tight, which is likely to make my little family holiday even more insignificant.

      • Singapore is one of the safest and most secure places in the world. That's one of the reasons why it was decided to hold the meeting there. There have been no terror-related attacks in Singapore post-9/11.

        For these reasons Singapore is a popular venue for high-level meetings. Trump and Kim is just another meeting, something they are well prepared for. Next month there will be something else.

        Have you heard somewhere that there is expected to be a higher chance of political unrest or an upgrading of threat-level during the meeting?

    • Thanks so much for your advice. I'll be sure to give them a call.
