My wife is coeliac, I've actually come to prefer these over regular weet-bix. It's an acquired taste though.
Wife and daughter here and same, I also prefer it to the regular. Though I have an allergic reaction to its normal price.
Ditto :) we only buy it at half price

Thanks for the tip surfbum1. Whilst on the topic of gluten free eating, does anyone have any good tips on where gluten free foods can be purchased at reasonable prices? The big supermarkets all stock a little bit of it, although they're always quite pricey. On the snack/cafe side of things, there's the glutenfree4u bakeries in Sydney and Melbourne, however they're quite pricey too.
The greengrocers and local markets sell plenty of fruit and veges. All gluten-free.
Your mum's gluten-free
Incorrect use of the apostrophe
Good luck, because gluten free became a 'health' fad (excluding coeliacs) everything gets a little mark up due to being 'healthier'.
What gluten free products are you after?
Not just coeliacs. I can't break down wheat so have to go gluten-free 😒
What process did your medical practitioner undertake to determine that you "can't break down wheat"?
Elimination test. My symptoms aren't severe as can be with Coeliacs. I experience bloating and constipation. After avoiding wheat for 10 days, the difference was incredible.
In my experience the increasing popularity of gluten-free foods means they have now become cheaper. 10 years ago prices were ridiculous and coeliacs had no choice but to pay because there were no other options
Aldi are pretty good for GF; bread, flour, noodles, some protein bars and snacks. Local veg/health food shop has reasonable black bean & edamame noodles that are pretty tasty too. Coles has some good big pizza bases, wraps & pastry.
All the mainstream processed stuff is higher priced if gluten-free but thankfully, getting cheaper due to the increased popularity of reducing/cutting out wheat in diets.
ALDI "Has No…" branded Lemon Cake is so good
My partner is coeliac and I find the supermarkets (more Coles than Woolies) are probably cheaper for gluten free than specialty stores.
And while it's certainly not cheap, at least the range and quality has improved a lot of the last five years or so. I used to go out with another girl 15 years ago who was coeliac too (I guess I have a type) and it was f'ing nightmare trying to find anything, let alone something you would want to actually eat…
Oh and thanks OP, will pick some up.
Your best bet is buying ingredients at wholesale places and cooking most things from sceatch. I find this to be absolutely the cheapest to be.
What is gluten-free weet bix
It's made of wheat
Made from sorghum
is the coconut version sorghum with some coconut mixed in?
Yep.
thanks a lot
