TPG Mobile Yay or Nay?

Do you think they can upset the market with ultra-low offerings?
Or would they upset too many customers from their shocking customer service?

  • Use to have a backup phone with tpg $1 plan and was charged $20 for something that I never used.

  • I don't understand both questions.

TPG used to charge for SIM delivery and also a port out fee when customers ported to another provider. On top of that, they'd take a $20 prepayment to cover costs for things not in the 'plan'.

The trick was that they would automatically refresh the prepayment once the balance fell below $10 back to $20. You could never really use that prepayment; the prepayment was also lost when the customer ported out.

I ported out less than a year ago, and I was charged for both.
      Refunded in the end, though.

    • they will forfeit the prepayment and charge $11 port out fee.

if you mention TIO they will give you your $20 back but $11 will not give you back no matter what.

  • I have reserved a trial to see what they are like. Hopefully more can be ascertained around fiscal year end.

Beware of tpg when you over your monthly data limit.i prefer Kogan which just stop your data usage and you can top up just for your data.

Yeah watch out their hidden costs.

Also when u port out, u have to call them and tell them you quit or they keep charging you…

Haven't had any issues with TPG Mobile.

  • The port out fee $11 still applies. Apparently, the new plans do not have the nasty $20 deposit (except the $1 min. per month plan still does). So essentially, add $2 to the cost of the plan per month for the first six month (assuming you will port out before the end of the 6th month). You need to figure out the billing cycle and best to port the number out 7 days before the billing cycle.

The special deal is for 'new' customers (basically you either need to get a new number or port a non-TPG number in) which suggests TPG want to get some new mobile customer wins.
