How is this different from a pen at the bank, which are free?

    • +27

This sends your data directly to China as you write. The bank one doesn't.

      • +10

doesn’t go directly to china …….Dutton captures and stores it first.

    • +5

Not only did you practically brag about stealing stationary from a bank, but you also compared it to a Xiaomi pen, shame on you!

      • +5

        NAB have free pens.

        • Yes, and the pens actually have something along the lines of "Free, and no strings attached" written on them. I looked at it and chuckled as the cashier handed one to me to sign on a cheque leaf.

Seema like as soon as we question Xiaomi products we are inviting negs…your question was perfectly valid

  • Thanks op, these are nice pens

They do run out of ink more quickly than other pens

    • +1

the key to nice writing pens is the refill. the nicer the refill the quicker they run out eg gel.
office works about a bit pricey at about $3-$4 for decent japanese gel or roller ball pens ….i often buy them, crack the pen open and use refil in other pen bodies eg my parker.

for $2.65 i will give the xiaomi a try ….once refil is used it will, probabaly be an officeworks refill though …

it should be more than 1 pen per customer …. how long will 1 last either due to loss or useage.

Genuine question - why are these Mijia deals popular? When I see this I see a Chinese pen with some creative advertising copy. What am I missing?

    • +2

nothing except creative advertising but we like these cheap xiaomi trinkets ….. and at $2.65 it’s about the same price as a decent entry level, oren from officeworks.

japanese gel pens are hard to beat …people buy them and put the refil into their expensive pens.check the pen forums ….cost about $3-$4 each.

      • +2

TIL there are pen forums. Any links? Now I'm interested.

        • +1

          Flashlight forums too!

Part of the reason we see these deals is that China just recently built its first factory that can produce the balls at the ends of the pens - in volume at high quality. Before then they had to import the balls from Europe (I think). So now they can produce their own quality pens - and hence the Mijia.

      And made in China pen..

used by the 'Earth People', hope they will export to other solar systems…

    • +1

I think it's supposed to be:
      - ink from Switzerland
      - rollerball bearing from Japan

  • +2

I wont buy these again. The silver ones are better quality. I purchased refills for my white one, I always seemed to be refilling and finally the pen roller thingo died.

  • Very good pen, I have used it both in work situations and study. Hard to beat at these prices.

  • +4

Any deals on the silver version?

  • Thanks Ordered :)

  • +4

Does it have BT or B28 support?

    • +3

Neither has B28/BT nor the notification LED

  • Flew over to China to buy it at their shop. Got charged $4.50aud… Chinabargain.

  • +2

Not smooth, ball doesn't release the ink properly in all directions. Don't buy don't cry.

  • Silver/gold ones are much smoother (less scratchy) and nicer to write with. Refills cost a bit more though.

  • Does it write

    • +2

No. The owner of the pen has to… unfortunately.

  • People like this pen.
