Not in the market for an OLED currently but great post and detail! Very informative, cheers.

    • OLED is very similar to plasma, this is why Panasonic are so great with this technology. These top of the range tellies are EVEN greater value on run out.

      • Is that the reason why? I thought all the oled tv’s used LG panels. I could be wrong.

        • They are LG panels, yes.

@Romen: but it’s the hardware and software technology by the manufacturer that makes the difference.

        • @msjb:
Sure, I wasn't implying the supporting technology behind the panel was LG. Just the panel itself was LG. This was purely in reference to flashi007's comment.

  • This is very tempting. Anyone already own one and able to comment?

    • I have the 65” 1000. Pretty good picture out of the box (whereas my VT50 plasma was not impressive until I calibrated it). Keep in mind though that the 2018 models will be cheaper than the 2017’s. Also you will be able to get the tech of the 1000 without having to pay for the sound bar so even cheaper (if you use a home theatre for sound).

I’d be seriously looking at the Sony if you’re upscaling from lower quality sources (SD and DVD). Also poor quality SD tv looks really bad on bigger screens, so you may want to go 55”, rather than 65”. I find FullHD stuff is ok at 65” though which is most decent tv and blurays. 4K stuff is so thin on the ground it’s not yet worth buying a new tv for.

I just recently picked up a 65” EZ950. In a word, unbelievable! These are pretty much the best TV you can buy today. To be honest, you can get them cheaper than this though with a bit of old fashioned bargaining in store, as they are in run out now with the 2018 models coming out next month.

Having a 55' EZ950 - thats an awesome price for a solid tv.
Only gripe is the OS on it, but the picture quality is great.

    • OS could be better, but you have the big guns like Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, ABC iView, SBS on Demand, etc and social media. Most add a PlayStation 4 or Xbox or Bluray player that add further apps.
The TV guide is fast, clear and controller layout is one of the best.

  • Got one for $300 excess to replace my Plasma
Very good although all/most oled 4k have banding issues
Very disappointing and adds another element where the plasma is superior

That's a bit over the top considering apparently all plasmas had the same issues…

      • I never noticed this on any plasma I owned. Maybe I didn't notice it. It's easier to notice in HDR mode.

So is this hard to fix as it seems to be an ongoing issue.?

I don't think that expecting a very expensive premium best display technology in 2018 would have issues sometimes overly noticeable and distracting and lack of uniformity as being over the top.
Cheap and old screen technology does not have this or at least many do not and also most people are unaware of this issue.

I thought it was so bad I should request a return until I found out it is very common.

  • How does the Panasonic 55” compare to the LG 55”?

  • Be prepared to wait a while if you’re buying one from these guys. Even though it says they’re “in stock”, I don’t think they actually stock any (in the 65ez950 at least). They have to order them from Panasonic. It’s a little misleading. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I bought my 65” ez950 and it hasn’t arrived yet.

  • Would definitely have gone for this if it wasn't for the width of the base legs - i would have to upgrade my tv unit and the width does limit flexibility in that regard.

  • I still love my F8500 64 plasma. Bright and other than my xbox one x, I have very little 4k material anyway.
