Yep. Shorter than a domestic Sydney >> Perth, so you won't be making much use of lay-flat beds.
Having said that, it is still a good price for business class.

I believe it would be 80 SC, plus 3750 QFF points. Given that economy flights for that period seen to start at $380 (also on LA), that's only another $271 for the extra 60SC and more points.
Honestly, I can't see the point for a trip of this length.
I guess for people that would never get the chance to fly J in their life, due to financial/points constraints, this is a good way to tick it off the bucket list. Heck if I was in that position I'd definitely do just that.
Perhaps if you want to fly to Auckland? I mean its only $150 more per leg compared with the going rates with qantas/airnz/virgin in economy. With the extra time required to get through customs, Also having lounge access might be worthwhile. There is certainly better value to be had with J on long haul flights.
Saying that, The 7.20am departure from Auckland is not ideal.
