Donate to Queensland Floods and Receive a Voucher for a Free Pie Face Pie

701

Received this via email, note the conditions to receive the voucher:

Pie Face is raising funds to help put Queenslanders back on their feet.

With over 75% of Queensland now flood affected, there has already been massive destruction of property, loss of homes and loss of life. The Queensland flooding is one of the worst on record—ever—and it is set to worsen over the days ahead as the water levels rise and the rivers deliver more flash flooding to Queensland towns and cities.

Queenslanders (including the brave emergency services and ordinary citizens) are in for one of the toughest fights of their lives.

We must support them.
Each $10 donated is another meal, and another step closer to putting their lives back together.

Please take a few minutes and donate whatever you can to helping our fellow citizens cope with these difficult times.

Good idea, abuse a companies goodwill to encourage donations to flood victims.

        • Thanks for being ever so generous!

        • +5

          Not in the spirit

        • +4

mods: please explain how my comment was a personal attack? It juxtaposed abusing a company trying to help the flood victims, as being as bad as stealing from the victims themselves.

        • +3

I agree… how was that a personal attack?

        • @Joel How about we focus on the deal on hand instead of accusing people of being flood looters. If someone chooses to donate $1 or $100, it's their choice. Have discussions but be respectful to others. Let's stay on topic. For further issues, please use talk with a mod.

        • thanks MiCCAS

          LOL!!!!

I actually gave nubzy a positive vote. The reality is there will be many ozbargainers who will make $1 donations to claim as many vouchers as possible. You just happen to be upfront and honest about it (^___^)

    • +7

      Disgusting.

    • -2

If he wants to donate $1, it's his choice.

    • +2

@ issh; you say "at least he's donated towards the flood crisis", but he's not sacraficing anything, he's benifiting from the transaction by getting a pie for only $1.
Plus, the $1 wouldn't cover all the company costs to produce the pie, including ingredients, staff salary, rent, etc. So it's actually PieFace that are taking the finacial hit, it's them that are making the donation.
      Nubzy isn't donating jack!!

He is one of the people "who haven't donated a single cent".

  • +15

Hmm while this deal is good, I'd rather donate through Woolies since they'll match dollar for a dollar. I'm all for donating to the floods victims, so doubling my donations to those that need it is more rewarding than a free pie IMO. But kudos to PieFace for taking a great initiative nonetheless!

    • +2

thanks to the companies who help the ones who went through the QLD

    • +1

I jumped in so early on Ch9 telethon, wish I wait and do it at Woollies so the floods victims could gain the extra $$$.

      • +2

Mate, it's more $$ than they would have had if you didn't donate - don't feel bad :)

    • +2

Plus, it appears on your receipt as an 'item', and you appear to get Everyday Rewards points. Pay with a credit card which has Frequent flyers and you'll get double the frequent flyers. While helping flood victims. Great!

    • +1

hey thanks I didnt know woolies is matching dollar til I read this! was just about to donate online.. will wait til i get to a woolies.

  • +12

Hmm why can't they donate both the money AND pies to those in need, that'd be even better!

    • I like this idea better!

    • A great idea - I was thinking about this earlier today, but I believe it's not logistically possible.

Would be interested to hear if it is though :)

    • Great idea if it logistically possible!

  • Just made two donations!

    "Pie Face Pie"

Is it just me or does this name seem to be suggesting something?

    • -1

      Hahahahaha. I get it :)

  • +9

"Daily limit for voting negative on comments is currently capped at 5."

Damnit, because there are some deserving …. here today… $1 donations for free pies. Pathetic.

    mod: removed language

    • -4

I'm not trying to stir up a fight - I think people should donate a lot more to the flood relief. However $1 for free pies still means +$1 for the relief. It's not exactly bad for the company too considering their profit margins in the past.

Have you been to the Pie Face before? It's like $6 for a small pie… 50c for some ketchup on top.

  • in the spirit of bargains of course we "should be" donating as little as possible to get free pies;
however i feel bad for abusing these bargains

nevertheless i will still be donating :P

  • +3

    guys seriously, think about it
if a person (say me) who bought $100 worth of these, thus donating $x and getting 10 pies, is it *worst than not donating at all
As seen here on the polls http://ninemsn.com.au/, around 50000(and god knows how many people are lying about this) have admitted that they have donated and around 70000 have admitted they have not donated.
    .
Would you rather a person say nubzy(sorry, but you are a fine example in this[i'm supporting you]) to benefit himself and also others(QLD flood victims) to have donated indirectly or would you rather have a person not donate a single cent at all to the QLD flood victims.
    .
honestly, how many of you actually directly(whether helping out the victims or giving money to them? Seriously how many of you did do that?
Or even, how many of you would buy a $10 pie, would this even be considered a bargain[sorry mods but i have to :(], because as far as i am concerned i doubt any of you would like to pay $10 for a pie, so what is this a 'charity event', because i am sure that they are not allowed (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/consolidated_rules#what_sho…), seriously guys, there were many other QLD flood appeal bargain that were posted, such as the Tennis(match dollar for dollar), so why neg someone when they are trying to make a donation?
    .
Even so, i betcha that only a few of you would buy this even if the QLD floods did not occur, IMHO, i see no harm in buying this to get the pie and a donation to the QLD flood victims, yes you could use the donation money better[e.g. woolies match your donation dollar to dollar, and many more], but at the end of the day every cent is worth a donation , so would you rather have a person donate whilst benefiting others and themselves or would you rather not donate at all?

    • +1

I donated several days ago, because they are in need, and I am not. It is taking all of my willpower to not make this post a personal attack, so let me make it impersonal - the sort of people who only donate because there is some direct reward for doing so, are not the sort of people I would associate with. The sort of people who voted +ive on the posts of these sort of people (you can simply click 'votes' under their post) are also the sort of people that I would not associate with. In fact, they're the sort of people that I would now compile a list of, and negative vote any post they make on this site for the rest of time. These people are not bargain hunters, they're leeches.

      • +2

Its fair enough to not want to associate with these people (not that you directly are anyway, this being the internet), but keeping track of their usernames? Either you've got issues or you're as bad as they are.

      • +1

this pie idea is good you need help

    • +2

It's good to get as many people to donate as possible, but we don't need to rip off a company that's trying to help an emergency.
If this was not for the QLD crisis, eg, donation for medical research. It won't feel as bad to benefit from the participating company. I think most people think this event is different and not your everyday good will donation.

    No paypal?

  • +1

I'm all for corporate support for the flooding, but how is this any better than the Bing Lee thing? With Bing, they were giving away $1 for NOTHING. All you had to do was "like" them (which is part of their trademark anyway) and they got hammered.

Good on any company for supporting those up north AND down in Victoria.

  • Has anyone received their coupon yet? I donated but have yet to get a reply from pie face.

    • did you read the instructions here at the bottom?
      .
      http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_zPYWXEnMdPI/TTArfhiD11I/AAAAAAAAAB…

      • -2

Yes. I subscribed. Nothing. Maybe they are out to lunch? But it's 2:40 and I sent them the email 2 hours ago.

        • -2

2 donations and pie face has not kept their word on this deal… obvious -1 for me. BTW I have already donated to the flood relief before this, so I am negging this purely because of the lack of bargain (I am paying for nothing).

        • +3

          Hey Joeno,

It's likely that they have either had an influx of e-mails, or they weren't in today - giving it only a couple hours isn't very fair before negging the deal, so I suggest you wait a more appropriate time and then take it further.

        • -1

It's been almost a full day since I first emailed them. No reply. I'll revoke my neg if they ever reply back.

        • Are you registered as a VIP, and also are you sure the e-mail hasn't gone to your junk mail?

        • -1

Yes I subscribed to their VIP yesterday. How do I ensure my email hasn't gone to their junk mail folder?

I hope they are very busy, don't mind waiting. But would be very insulted if they are simply ignoring my email.

        • I'm referring to your junk mail.

I'll send them an email and see if I receive a reply.

        • -1

Thanks. No, nothing from them in my junk email inbox.

  • Got a bounced back email from their email address.

  • For everyone who is waiting for a response, be aware that they have received your e-mails, as per the reply to my e-mail:

Thank you all for your kind donations to the QLD Flood Relief Appeal!
We are currently tallying up the donations made and will send out the
Free pie voucher as soon as we can! Thanks again for your donation.
    Every donation counts.

    • They haven't even bothered to reply to my emails. Maybe you need to have subscribed for a long period of time? I only subscribed yesterday for this deal.

      • No - they are waiting a few days before sending them all out in one batch.

Send them another e-mail and ask them to confirm that they received your donation.

Read the quote - they are talling them all up.

        Michael

  • I've donated thru cudo when they had the we'll match you donation offer.
you get more for your money so to speak!
so only donating a little extra for the pies. so i better get my pies!
