This book is an exploration of the Python programming language, but it is a guide for kids. Of course, Python is a sweet programming language, and any kid will feel happy to code in Python. The book guides you on how to instruct the computer to reserve some memory variables for you to store some data. The Python command line can be used as a calculator. No, you don’t have to open the calculator for the computer, but you will directly use the Python terminal to perform some mathematical expressions. This will be absolutely amazing to you! You will also learn how to play around with variables of different types. Imagine writing a program for doing some mathematical calculations on your behalf? This book guides you on how to do so using the various operators, including the modulus (%) operator. The computer can also make decisions on your behalf. You will also learn how to implement this in your programs. Computers can do the same task again and again, and the computer will not complain! Learn how to instruct the computer to do this, and you will not “hear” it complain. Learn to create your modules from scratch, and you will import them to your workspace. You can also give them to your friends for free use!

The following topics are discussed in this book:
- Installing Python
- Python Variables
- Python Operators
- Decision-Making in Python

  • Thanks. Python is a pre-requisite for Micropython

  • print("Thanks","OP")

  • +1

If you want your kids to learn python, I suggest buying a Raspberry Pi and installing kano which is a free download. There are a few in browser apps.

    • Can you give more direction on that and your experience. I want to teach my kids (13).

      Where to go next?

      • In my experience Kano is not so much about teaching kids as simply setting up the Raspberry Pi and letting the kids explore. Setup is a simple as copying the image to the Raspberry Pi and turning it on. After that, the kids simply work through the guided exercises and you may occasionally need to provide help.

        In simple steps:
        1. Buy Raspberry Pi plus accessories that you don't have (power supply, microSD card, keyboard, screen & case)
        2. Copy Kano image onto card
        3. Boot Raspberry Pi

        It really is that simple.

  • Call me when it's Monty Python for kids…

    • au link is AUD$4.02, US version $2.99

      • Says $0 for me.

  • Looks like you have to create a KindleUnlimited account to get this for 'free'. If you do so, you'll have to remember to cancel the membership before the 30-day trial period ends to avoid being automatically billed for the next month.

    • That's a bit like posting a "free music album" when all you have to do is sign up for a free spotify account trial. How is this a deal? Will we post all 1 million titles available in the kindle unlimited plan?

  • need to have Kindle unlimited membership.

THis is not a free deal, wrong title

  • FYI It was free - I got it for free and don't have a Kindle unlimited plan - so it was a valid deal. Expect that the price simply went back to normal….

    • Same here. I also don't have a Kindle Unlimited plan, but was able to get it for free.

  • What does it mean when it says this title is currently unavailable for purchase. Is that because it sold out of free copies? I get the deal expired awhile ago but even when It was on, I couldn't get a copy :/
