I frequently visit my local Woolies after work and do a quick lap through the deli and the meat section to see if anything has been significantly marked down. Being able to find some nice steak or a ready-meal for 40-60% off is always a good find. This might be a complex suggestion to implement but ill make it anyway.
I know that right now I could post a deal in groceries saying that my local woolworths has t-bone steaks for $5 each down from $10, but could Ozbargain implement a feature where I could be alerted to deals on produce within a selected radius of my home. That way one could write a post for discounted T-bones and people who live within a reasonable distance of the same shop could realistically purchase one.
Id really love to see people posting what discounted produce deals they find in their local supermarkets and people who are in the area could be alerted to these discounted goods quickly.
Ozbargain currently doesn't have HTML5 geolocation features, so it isn't possible for deals to have "location awareness". So unfortunately, you'll have to stick with our current method of adding your state in brackets as a prefix of a deal title and then clarify where your local store is at the end of the title. e.g like this
The second issue is that it is sometimes unclear whether a deal is specific to a store or nationwide. Kmart clearance items are sometimes mistaken to be store specific when they are in fact nationwide, but there are circumstances with other stores where the exact details are unknown, and people are just guessing it's only 1 store that has the deal.
The 3rd issue is privacy concerns. Some people may not like geolocation and might not even enable the setting in the first place, in which case it might not justify the time and costs of developing this feature.
