Differences between Ryobi One+ Hammer Drills

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two Ryobi One+ hammer drills.

They are both 18V, brushless, have different clutch settings, one come with an extra handle for stability, however I can't seem to find the max torque levels for both of them.

I can't even find the correct manuals on the Ryobi website for both of them.

They are both around the same price - $10 difference for the skin only.

So which one is better?

Thanks.

  • The $149 one newer model and has a metal chuck?

Does the $159 one have the separate hand grip?

  • The more expensive one appears to be a newer model with an "e-clutch" for the torque setting instead of the old click dial.

    • E-Torque clutch control regulates power to avoid overdriving and damaging materials
    • Has anyone had experience with the new electronic clutches?

The last thing I had with an electronic clutch was a pricey Bosch cordless driver. I didn't really like it as I lost the 'feel' for when the clutch would disengage. It would just cut out silently and suddenly.

I thought I'd get used to it, then the driver started playing up, i.e. it would suddenly spin in reverse when it's set to go forward.

  • One is a drill, the other is a drill / driver. The driver function is for screwing in bolts etc where you want a constant (and maximum) torque where the clutch will slip when it hits the maximum (to avoid shearing off the bolt head).

If you don't know what you need a driver for, you probably don't need it. If you need a driver, get a real driver only tool.

They both have a clutch. One is mechanical and the other is electronic. You might be thinking of an impact driver, which doesn't have an adjustable clutch?

this one has more led and rubber. a must have for any weekend diy.

  • I don't need a driver. I need the hammer function.
