Gold Coast Theme Parks - Ticket Procurement Services on Gumtree

Hi guys,

We're looking for cheap theme park tickets and I came across 'ticket procurement services' on Gumtree. Are these legit? Tickets to Movie World are $65 per adult (the cheapest I could find).

Thanks :)

  • interesting…

  • That broken English makes it look too dodgy…

  • On Scamtree? Very professional indeed.

That said, I am guilty myself of selling flights on Scumtree to people on the other side of the country whom I never met. But I did get paid and they did get their flights.

  • +1

Some of them are Legit, but what they don't tell you in the ad is that you have to agree to attend a either a "Property Investment" presentation or one for a time-share holiday scheme or something similar.

There are also similar stalls & shopfronts right through Surfers that offer cheap theme park tickets that do the same thing. The cheap price is because the developer pays them a fee for everyone who they get to go along to their presentation.

The tickets are only provided after you attend the meeting.

Your best bet to save a little bit of money is either directly via the them park website, or someone like NRMA.

  • You can get them locally pretty cheap (not at the gate, but at various places around Surfer's Paradise, for example) - some local travel agent places were advertising 3 parks for $99 IIRC

Alternatively, Groupon has them for an OK price right now if you want peace of mind. Seaworld for $72, movie world for $80 and the 3 park pass for $108 (3 days) or $135 (7 days) - the SALE30 code might also work, as should cashback sites.

  • There's a few possibilities:

    1. They're a travel agent who's allowed to resell tickets. I've seen similar offers for attractions around Sydney. The emphasis on "procurement service" make me think this is not the case
    2. They're reselling staff family and friends tickets. Most likely the case given the words "procurement service"
    3. They're laundering money, by reselling tickets purchased for cash from somewhere (???)
    4. It's just a plain scam and tickets will not work

I would just ask the seller "what's the story with the tickets? What should I say if someone asks me where I got them?" Normally there's a reasonable story behind them or you're given a decent cover story to tell when questioned about them.

I'd also keep an eye out for someone selling groupon tickets that they can't use.

  • Thanks guys. I'll message him and ask what the 'strings attached' are.

  • 4.We are not the ticket seller, we help customer to buy ticket. Procurement service only. Free procurement service.

    Scam.
