Is it cheaper to be on a family plan or have just three individual SIM only plans?

Go visit a Telstra or Optus store and ask them
The family plans are cheaper if you all must have Telstra or Optus directly, but SIM only plans via MVNOs are considerably cheaper.
Look at belong mobile. You can share data very easily with them by gifting to other belong numbers.
