I would like to open a conversation around the commercial interests of companies advertising on OzBargain.
In light of my recent travel post outing commercial interest in OTA profiting off the OzBargain community, I propose the website introducing strict guidelines.
I.e Full disclosure on profiting from the community. The information is publicly available by comparing prices when clicking different links and not sensitive to any commercial interest.
I understand a consumer has the power to choose how and where they make purchases however knowledge allows consumers to make informed decisions.
Thoughts?
Companies do not pay to post on OzBargain.
All companies are restricted to posting limitations.
Flight search companies like Skyscanner, IWTF, Google Flights etc are the easiest mechanism to dynamically show the cheapest flights. Most often the cheapest flight for one date will be from one travel company and another date from another. Almost always the OTAs will have cheaper flights than booking directly with the airline site.
