I am in a desperate need of finding a good IT company who knows what they are doing and how to solve issues regarding Site to Site VPN including configuring new VPNs for multiple sites. We are located in Melbourne.
We have had two companies who lie to their teeth regarding the skills yet turn out to be highly incompetent sending out guys who have been in Australia for less than a year with no clue whatsoever
regarding how to resolve an issue.
To give you an example of our last IT company whom I just gave the boot:
We have main head office where a server sits and all the data gets stored on the server.
Now we were opening a branch site which needs to send and receive and talk to the server at the main office.
So in preparation I call up the IT and ask them what do I need at the new site to get things going, telling them about the NBN and speed and a static Ip including the modem Optus is supplying.
They turn around and saying we have had a look at the model of the optus modem, this is all we need we can configure what we need and failed miserably and stuffed us around for 2 days.
I wouldnt go into much details except I ll tell you this. They were trying to configure a pptp vpn on the modem to configure a site to site vpn.
Long story short: I gave them the boot and did my research bought myself a Cyberoam CR25inG for the branch office same as the head office o make configuration easier.
Got the VPN working finally after much hassle but I come across multiple dropouts and disconnections for some reason and figuring the problem out is beyond my scope of knowledge.
So we really need a good IT company who knows what they are doing, are fairly quick at resolving issues mostly regarding VPN connectivity as our business is a radiology practice that cannot afford to go down.
Cheers
Abort abort abort. ISP provided modems almost never do VPNs properly (looking at you Telstra) and Optus modems are usually even worse.
Normally I'd recommend a router like DrayTek as they're excellent at VPNs but it looks like you've picked up a Cyberoam UTM instead. I don't work with Cyberoam UTMs but I know with other brands that if the firewall isn't setup correctly it can drop connections from other networks frequently.
