PC Byte PC Builds - Some Questions

Hey guys,

I've been looking at PC Byte eBay PC Builds and I was wondering for the people out there who bought their PC builds and using them, are you satisfied with cable management? Is there anything I should know before I buy one?

Thanks

  • Is there a specific reason your are going with a prebuilt rather than assembling yourself?

    • Its cheaper from what I calculated.

PCByte has very good cable management from my experience.

    • Thanks for the info. Did the PC come with instructions for parts and ect.

They send you all the boxes for the parts they used, which do come with manuals.

        • Thanks for your help

        • @hogwarts: Did you end up buying a system from theme mate? How did it go? They seem to be great value for money at the moment, so just curious how it went?

  • Their cable management is fine (I bought one last month). In terms o what comes with it, they gave me the boxes of the CPU and GPU along with some manuals/drivers for the mobo. Only other thing it came with were 4 screws for mounting HDD/SSD. No additional twist-ties or zip-ties.

Might be an anomaly, but their build care on mine wasn't exactly great. Was using it a bit before it started sparking on the inside and it turned itself off. Turns out whoever put it together didn't pug in the fan connection properly and that caused it to screw up. Might be an anomaly, but that's my experience with them. Fortunately, it doesn't look like any long-term damage, but I'd be a bit careful after getting yours.

Also, the parts that they use aren't exactly specified on their eBay store, so you might end up with real cheap stuff. I ended up with generally brand-name parts (Gigabyte, Crucial, etc.) except for the GPU which was from a brand I'd never heard of before (Inno3d)

I would have to agree about build quality, especially if its in one of the ebay sales, i ordered a box on one of the EBAY 20% off deals, due to travel i didnt actually get to test it for 7 weeks after it arrived. I turned it on, nothing, after opening the case myself due to the time difference, i found that they had bent 7 different pins inserting the CPU, took me forever to get them bent back into the right place, and now works fine.

  • I currently own a PC Meal (eBay store) PC, with base of operations in Sydney (I'm in Melbourne).

Check out them if you want an alternative, going on 5-6 years old, it's getting a little long but running great still for what I want. Shipping the same (all ancillary boxes) and the extra parts, cable management was generally good since there's a massive clear panel on the side of the box.

Most eBay PC stores will have reasonable communication if there are any problems.
