THULE 25 Litre 15" Notebook Backpack Black $78 @ The Good Guys

110

Good Guys are having a clearance on their Thule products. They must be a new lineup of bags coming from Thule because the cheapest I've seen this bag before was at Kogan for around $120 and now I can't find it on their website.

They also have the blue version for the same price.

Top quality bag, I have an older model. Going strong after about 4 years.

    • How is the back support with these bags?

I have a bigger version of this bag (Crossover), the stitching around the zippers started to come undone after a couple of months. I contacted Thule Australia and was told they don’t offer repairs in AU but I could post the bag to them at my own expense for them to assess it, they might offer me a replacement or they may just return it to me in the same condition.
Pretty poor customer service, I wouldn’t buy another one of their products

    • I bought an Amazon Basics Explorer laptop backpack for $25 and it's lasted well so far. Pretty sure Amazon are taking that thing back and they'll pay shipping.

  • Been using one of these daily for about six months and I'm very happy so far. Seems to be of very good quality.

I've had this bag for about a year or more. I can speak to its quality (25 years warranty can also speak the same) but there are 3 potential flaws to be aware of.

1- There is little organisation. Most notably, that front vertical zipper is just a vacant wasteland devoid of any pockets, so unless you use it for specifically chosen items, it becomes almost a nuisance to use on a daily basis. Side note: I'm not the most naturally organised of individuals so I crave pockets wherever they may be put.

2- The interior lining between the 3 cavities is plastic and thin AF. Honestly, a sharp pencil can easily poke through, as can a sharp ruler. so I have to be mindful of that. Side note: This also applies to items easily being moved about when in motion. So you wouldn't want to put sensitive items (laptops, tablets, fragile vases) anywhere but the padded pockets.

3- A minor one for me: There is no laptop strap covering its padded area. And the padding at the bottom of the bag is minimalist to say the least. This can be a concern for some people, so it's worth pointing out.

Here is the good news. All of these flaws are immediately visible in person. So go in store, look at the bag and you can immediately tell if it's right for you or not. Literally in less than 2 minutes. Aside from that, I can vouch for its waterproofness, comfort, lightweight, zippers, craftsmanship and water bottle pockets (they're fantastic).

    Hope this mini-review helped.

  • Don't seem to be any black ones on ebay TGG site.

  • My order on eBay got cancelled for this one
