Hi all.
I need some advice. I put an ad on Gumtree looking for tickets to an almost sold out show (mostly just single seats available). And I had a guy SMS me that he had tickets in row B and gave the seat numbers. But he lives in Newcastle and I am in Sydney and show is in Sydney. He wants payment by bank deposit and doesn't have PayPal.
He has sent photos of his ID but I really don't like paying by bank payment/internet banking.
What should I do?
You saw the poll result, do not buy the ticket. Even if you drive up and pay cash, it is a big NO NO

This has "scam" written all over it. Apart from anything else the venues reserve the right to refuse entry to people they think may not be the ticket purchaser to avoid scalping.
a) Is it likely there will be another show put on because the current ones are already near sell outs - you do see this happen quite regularly
b) If you can only get single tickets then you might be best off buying those. You don't need to actually sit next to someone at a concert; you can discuss it with whoever you went with at a nice place afterwards. Sometimes the single tickets will get you better positions than the doubles as they are filling gaps.
Hope you get to the concert but don't be concertless and poorer.

Thanks everyone, didn't buy from gumtree. Ended up getting restricted view seats direct from the venue. Looking forward to seeing Anh Do live :)
You really knew the answer to your question before doing this poll, did you not? You were just hoping really, really much that you are wrong and could get the tickets you really want. I know how it feels as we have all been there.
But be strong and don't fall for it.
Look for other, real tickets by a seller closer to you. Physical tickets. Meet in person. See the person. See his or her ID as you can see if it is real.
Meet at a police station as there are cameras (or anywhere else with cameras) - if the seller is willing to do that it is very likely to be all above board.
