Not a great deal tbh with the set up costs

    • Hi Julius, our Activation Charge is $79.95. If your new to the NBN and haven't been connected yet. NBNCo provide Free Standard Installation.

      Regards
      Clayton - Lightspeed Internet

      • *you're

      • NBNCo don't charge connection fees, most wholesalers don't charge connection fees. Why do you? You're not passing on a cost or adding any value to the service as far as I can tell.

        • Activation Charges and Connection Fees are two completely different baskets,

Connection Fees relate to a physical technician visit or anything that involves a physical connection.

Activation is the fee related to the Wholesaler. Whilst some companies deal with NBNCo directly, smaller providers (like us) use a wholesaler who manage all the aspects of the network. You can find a list of Wholesalers here :> https://www.nbnco.com.au/sell-nbn-services/wholesale-provide…

The Activation Fee from us in this regard is passed on as its a direct fee from our wholesaler.

          Regards
          Clayton

  • @ Clayton

    Perhaps you meant

    50mbps for $49 for the first 6 months (Normally $59 a month)?

since there is a $10 discount with the coupon code?

    • Hi, Thank you for the observation - however its $59 per month, as it advises on our website prices shown include discount. They will go back up to normal as of June 30.

      Regards
      Clayton

  • Do you have a long HFC procedure?

    • If you PM us or email us some details (address etc), i can provide you some detail about our HFC procedures.

  • According to the website the typical evening speed seems to be roughly half of the max; E.G. 50mbps plan expected to get 28mbps. Seems a bit so-so for $69/mo?

    • The Typical evening speeds (lowest 28mbps for example) is a worst case scenario, because our network is changing daily its difficult for us to put an average speed. Currently on the NBN50 plans between 7-11pm customers are experiencing about 41mbps.

    • According to the website it uses the "Standard evening speed" label which is the proposed ACCC label for a minimum 15MBPS during the 7pm-11pm evening slot.

      https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/national-broadband-network…

I guess they are also trying to further qualify that the acutal the minimum speed is "28MBPS" because the next label up would be "Standard Plus" at minimum 30MBPS, so it's quite close to "Standard Plus." For comparison another cheap provider Belong are $70 per month on a 12 month contract "Standard Plus" (Typ 30mbps) or $60 for "Basic" (Typ 9mbps). The discounted price compares favourably, full price is kind of in the ballpark but like you said …so-so.

To OP I would be very careful about publicly contradicting your own typical speed values. ACCC are quite serious on the issue of broadband speed claims.

  • Love them or hate them Kogan are doing this for $58.90 for the first 24 months.

No connection fee from what I can see, but you do need to buy their modem. There doesn't appear to be any mention of a static IP though, for those that need one.

  • Better off going with Exetel same speed, but $59 for the full year and free activation and free modem (less $20 postage).
