Laser Bluetooth Laptop Mouse 1600dpi + BT Dongle - $19 Delivered [Laser Brand Thru ExtraStock]

70

This is a laser laptop mouse with bonus USB bluetooth dongle - perfect for your Netbook. I bought one and it's much better than I expected. Shape is slightly asymmetrical (right handed) and looks like a small version of the Logitech MX series (eg: MX620) - pretty comfortable for something only 104mm long.

I was unable to find any BT mouse at that price point, so for me it's the perfect bargain for my new Netbooks bought pre-christmas.

OK, it's not a Logitech or MS or Razer and you wouldn't use it for gaming - but it definitely works as a normal mouse and comparable to the MS non-BT wireless that we are replacing. It's got Laser tracking (not red optical LED) and works fine on my black desk. Whilst Laser is a "low-end" brand I've had a number of products (incl GPS) over the years and the quality is reasonable and service (when needed) has been great.

It has sleep mode (press any button to wake it up). Includes one of those micro Bluetooth dongles that are semi-circular (the ones sold at DX and given away by OzStock sometimes). I didn't use the dongle, it paired perfectly with my netbook's inbuilt BT.

Warranty is 12 months. Retail packaging. Delivery from Sydney by eParcel (had to sign for it) took 3 days. Some copy/pasted specs below…

  • whats the advantage over a normal wireless mouse?

    • the advantage that i could think of:
      1. you do not need the usb dongle to be connected before you can use it (if your laptop or pc has bluetooth feature).
      2. switch between 800-1600 dpi(actually does not really matter)
the disadvantage that i could think of:
      1. it will not work when you are in bios setup.

anyway, i may not be completely correct.

      • +1
        1. it will not work when you are in bios setup.

        Why is this important?

        • It's not important, and most BIOS don't use the mouse anyway.

One thing I haven't worked out is whether the mouse will work at Windows Login screen, or only after Windows is up and running. I really should check that (but it's be the same for all bluetooth input devices, inclduing bluetooth keyboards)

        • @llama, you might want to verify that via safe mode instead. If it works in there, it does saves a lot of headache later when you run into problems with windows.

        • my apology, just type it in rush as should be not working in safe mode…as far as i concern. Probably my computers do not support bluetooth when in safe mode..may be others do..i have no idea. Cheers

        • Having a mouse work in BIOS or Safe Mode isn't really important, remember the laptop still has a trackpad sitting there for emergency use.

      • My latitude e6510's bios works with my bluetooth mouse

    • All 3 of my laptops have bluetooth, so it means I don't need a dongle. Laser tracking is more accurate than LED witch the bulk of budget mice are

    • As others have said, a normal wireless mouse needs a dongle, which is a pain to have sticking out of a laptop and also gobbles one of the valuable and limited USB ports. A Bluetooth mouse uses the laptop (or phone or PSP's) inbuilt bluetooth receiver.

  • Does this work on 'Glass' surfaces?

I have a Logitech Laser mouse, it works on glass surfaces. Would this one work the same? Since it's 'Laser' as well?

    • Unlikely to work on glass, but I didn't try it. Only the newer and more expensive Logitechs seem to be reliable on clear glass.

  • +1

Link not working, it just goes to bluepoint website and they seam to have it for sale…

  • Does it really have a LASER?
If it is just a deceptive brand name, then price is normal for a mail-order no-name BT mouse. I got one from DX years ago, though this one would arrive a lot quicker.

    • It is Laser brand AND it has a laser sensor LOL

The sensor doesn't light up red like an optical mouse - the sensor is clear and identical in appearance to the Logitech MX Laser that I am using right now.

I do know the difference between a Laser and normal optical mouse, it's pretty bloody easy to tell. :-P

  • It is LASER brand, but does also appear to actually be a laser optical mouse.

I bought a slightly older model of LASER brand wireless (2.4 GHz RF) laser mouse from The Blue Point, and both the mouse and the service I received were excellent. The mouse really took a licking - I treated it like crap, just throwing it into my backpack without a care, often dropping it, and after opening it to quickly re-align some internal components, it always worked as good as new. I imagine that if you actually took a little care with it, it would serve you very well for many years.

Performance-wise, it was happy to work flawlessly on glossy/plain surfaces that "better" mice could not read at all, although on clear glass I was only able to get jittery performance at best.

In fact, I'm tempted to get one of these, and treat it a bit more respectfully than the last.

  • I keep getting directed to thebluepoint website…..

    • And you purchase from there. I have put through an order. Lewt see how long to arrive.

    • Yes, that's right.

And on the page is a picture of a mouse and also a button that says "Add To Cart". To buy one, you click that button :-)

  • These have been re-stocked:)

    Enjoy.

    • Got mine today. I think it was out of stock yesterday so just redirected back to the main page…..

      Thanks :o)

  • Got mine today. Seems fine. Using the laptop's built-in BT.
