Tried ubereats once - they never made or delivered the food, waited hours and then had to wait over a week for a refund. Never again. Menulog4life.
Agreed ubereats is a cancer and shouldnt exist in Australia. Ordered food 30 mins wait then it went to 45 as the driver dropped off another order before mine and food arrived stone cold. Emailed and refuned in full the next day waste of time and effort
So this means that UberEATS only gets 15% commission from these sales rather than the usual 35%.
What a service. UberEATS won't let restaurants put their prices up to cover UberEATS 35% commission, and requires that restaurants take responsibility for food spoilage even though restaurants have no control at all over the delivery process.
Pleased that the ACCC is going to investigate them.
What do you mean ubereats doesnt let them put up their prices, alot of places do just this. They charge more on ubereats than they do to inhouse prices.
Odd considering when I checked McDonalds had all their food prices jacked up.
Restaurants absolutely raise prices on UberEATS compared to their takeaway price.
And then also add on $5 for delivery lol

Walk-in customers are soft-targets these days. They are probably about the only place a restaurant makes money.
Websites like Eatclub/FirstTable/EntertainmentBook regularly offer discounts of 25-50%. The same set up restaurants show up on sites like groupon/scoopon … not to mention the entertainment book.
Delivery services charging a commission of 20-30% is about the same cost to the business as offering a discount on a site like Eatclub/FirstTable/EntertainmentBook.
Not clear why you're hating on ubereats more than any other restaurant discounting scheme.
