Hi Guys, going for mates bucks to Amsterdam for 5 days and was hoping I could get some ideas on what I can do please and places to visit apart from the obvious red light area. Thanks guys - hoping you can help me make it fun. I'm not a big traveler so don't know much.

What time of the year?
I’d rent a bike and just cycle around.
Van Gough is really good (pre purchase tix on line)
Red Light district is also very cool
In November please
We had a bit more than a day to spend there. We went to the van Gogh museum, Heineken factory, Casa Rosso and obviously a coffeeshop!
Anne Frank House
Rijksmuseum is fantastic if you like art. Haarlem and Utrecht are pretty nice day trips.
If you are into football, the Amsterdam Arena is pretty cool
Red light district is great fun for the family
Ah, you will enjoy Amsterdam.
I went 10 years ago and really enjoyed it.You can do a lot there:
- Sex Museum. Lots of penis and vagina exhibits.
- Dinner cruise along the canal.
- Live sex show. Yes, the performers have sex live on stage. It's very theatrical.
- Anne Frank House, you can't take photos in there but I did. See if you can buy tickets online because the line is VERY long if you have to buy one at the door.
- The Netherlands is a liberal country, try a hash muffin at the coffee shops lol
- Ride a bike, take photos of bikes or bring a padlock to put on one of the bridges. Very touristy.
- Sample cheeses and buy souvenir clogs. Shopping is always fun.
The Red Light District is interesting. Just walk around and have a look anyway. The ladies stand in the windows so it's like a show lol
