Satellite Internet

Hi,
I'm not savvy on computers or internet but i'm looking for some recommendations for a laptop , ipad etc approx 10 inch screen that picks up Satellite internet well. Are some better than others ??
I'll be working at sea on a ship with satellite internet. Something hopefully cheap & small but good quality under $500.

Cheers

that picks up Satellite internet well

The satellite signal (internet) will be picked up by the ship's equipment (modem and satellite dishes). Then the ship sends out the internet signal to everyone through "normal wifi".

When you use the internet onboard, it'll be the same as using WiFi anywhere else. You wont have to buy a new one because it's "satellite internet". Any laptop or tablet (like an ipad) you have now will work.

Walk in to Harvey Norman, smile at the first guy that walks up to you - I guarantee they will sell you something.

    • Might price one there . Don't think i'll buy there.

  • What do you do with your computer? Just web browsing and movies?

Dell Inspiron 11 3000 might be a good option for that price range.

  • Do you mean you want a built in modem in the laptop (eg a SIM card ?)

      Missed that sorry.
When you say “working” do you mean working on the ship or are you going on holidays ?

Ships internet isn’t going to be great and will be slow and expensive.

If you don’t need to work, set a out of office and enjoy your holiday.

      • Working . Taking Australia's LNG overseas.

Then all your computer needs is 'wifi' or maybe an ethernet jack, but I'm guessing it'll be delivered by wifi, the ships picks up the satellite interner and then serves it to you via wifi.
