Gaming Laptop under $800?

Hi guys,

Can I get a "decent" gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU under $800 that can run Fortnite at 60 FPS? It's the only game I would play on it.

Thank You!

  • 640 x 480 ?

anyway, spend a bit more at $900+ get 1050Ti the least

    • Ok I get it :)

  • Can I get a "decent" gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU under 800 AUD that can run fortnite at 60 FPS?

    no

    • sorry for that^ snarky comment I couldnt resist; now for the informative comment. at that price its not really possible

For dedicated GPUs at that price you are getting stuff like geforce 920MX's and MX150s or Radeon 530s which can barely handle fortnite 720p30

maybe look at second hand stuff for older powerful systems?

or you can consider going a little over budget with something like this which will play fortnite 1080p60 at medium settings

      • Yeah no worries. I looked over metabox, but I need to buy the OS as well for 140 AUD.

  • +1

If you must play that game, the Xbox One would be the cheapest way of playing it at a decent framerate.

    Xbox One s 500GB only costs $200~220.

    • I don't enjoy this type of game with a Controller, but yeah that would be cheap .

      • I see. I actually use a XIM apex to be able to use my mouse + KB with a console

It is an expensive piece of kit though, costing $100USD + $19 for shipping (roughly $160 AUD) but it does allow you to play your first person shooter Xbox games with almost same level of precision as a PC version.

        • Would need to buy a TV as well for that though and since I'm staying in australia just for a "few" more months that would not make that much sense to me. Thanks though .

  • Fortnite actually can run on anything… you really don’t need a ‘gaming’ laptop, just a laptop with a good integerated graphics card should be able to run the game easily. You can try find a 1050Ti laptop for around $800.

    • Where can I find one for 800 ?

        • they have an i5-8250U for $799

        • +1

@frondono: I don't think they're anywhere near a 1050ti. Probably better off spending a little more and waiting for a lenovo or an ebay day with a 1050ti.

      • Gumtree would be your best bet or option.

Just start low balling every one you see eventually you will get a hit.

  • GPD Win? https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gpd-win-2-handheld-game-c…

The first gen goes for about $300/400.

    • Interesting yeah :)

    • Integrated graphics and Core m3 - yeah right.

Might as well buy any normal laptop for the same price and get a decent i5 or i7 if you're going that route.

  • Check newegg for 1050 laptops that can be shipped to aus, then buy a power convertor for 50 at jaycar
*edit: looks like no deals at the moment

    • I actually want to try buying it locally, since the ladt one I got was actually "broken". I understand though it will be not easy to find one in that price range and not beeing refurbished.

    • Why buy a power converter? Every laptop I have had has a 110-240 psu. All you have to do is change the cord over to an AU plug for a few dollars….

  • Xiaomi Air with a MX150 might run it decently.

    • Whats the price on that one though ?

      • The 2018 ones run for about $1200 now.

You could probably get last years 2017 model fairly close to your budget of $800.
