      Hi PJC.

      I produce candles as a part time business. It is a very small operation, hence I don't mass produce. This means my running costs are more than likely much higher than the one you have used as examples. They are produced by hand in small batches. Wood wicks are also more expensive and are rather unique. Some people like that, and are willing to pay a bit more.

      Additionally, upon perusing your linked merchandise, the containers they use and labelling are much much cheaper than the products I use. Black glass, bamboo lid and display packaging. I don't do things by halves.

      Ozbargain is a platform to allow businesses (small and large) to show their deals. Regular customers of Soda & Lime Candles would see the 10% discount a 'bargain'. Anyone who likes luxurious products will see this as a bargain too. I am not an Ebay retailer. My candles are predominantly sold online. I also have some candles on offer in a number of Art Galleries from time to time.

      Shopping is subjective, and while the company you have listed might provide candles at a cheaper price, the physical appearance of the product, service and quality might not be up to the standard of some customers. I know I set high standards. Considering the shop you have linked has a number of negative reviews, I am glad that I have yet to receive anything negative. (well except for this Negging I guess)

      I understand that people come here for a bargain and/or a deal. But if they see a product that THEY like the look of is being offered at a lower price than normal…that is a bargain to them. It might not be for you, but it will be for them.

      So before negging, understand that not all businesses or products are the same, especially in candles. I am surprised you didn't link Kmart who have similar sized candles for $10. I also hope in the future you use your negging powers in my defence if Glasshouse Fragrances post a deal…some of their candles are $40 or more!! Blimey!

      Oh and… in response to your earlier post. I only offer 5 candle fragrances at present and one size. They are all $34.95.

      Happy Negging PJC…From your profile you seem to enjoy it. Do what you do best.

        We come here for bargains. Would your fellow OzBargain Members save money paying you $62.91 for 2 candles instead of $36.65?

        • -1

          The definition of bargain is an advantageous purchase, especially one acquired at less than the usual cost.

          You can acquire my candles less than the usual cost.

          My candles are very different to the product you linked. Vastly different in appearance and style.

          If my candles were exactly the same container, wick etc and I was charging $62… hell yeah that doesn't fly. But they are not.

          Here is another one you can compare for more accuracy.

          https://www.hardtofind.com.au/10337_wooden-wick-candle?varia…

          And here is an ebay one…

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WoodWick-CAMPFIRE-MARSHMALLOW-Me…

          Pretty much the exact same candle. You will find a good chunk of wood wick candles are around the $39.95 mark.

          Hey, I like research…it's a big part of my full time job. But it has to be authentic and reliable. Comparing chalk with cheese doesn't make for a good argument.

          Hey, I like research…it's a big part of my full time job. But it has to be authentic …

          You joined OzBargain last night to give your fellow Members a 10% discount for minimum spend $50, after offering elsewhere a 15% discount code - BLOKES15 - for minimum spend $25

          … hey, do you like that research?

          @PJC:

          And that is widely available to anyone to use. It's on the internet. I have a few different coupon codes going for different markets. It's what businesses do…

          Considering you won't even address the original argument I made shows that you grasping at straws.

          I've made a few sales. People obviously see the value.

          This has been fun! I'm off to pack orders now ;)

        • @sodalime:

          And that is widely available to anyone to use. It's on the internet.

          But you offered a lower discount to Australia's largest buying community.

          I've made a few sales. People obviously see the value … I'm off to pack orders now

          Will you refund those OzBargain Members the amount they overpaid by trusting the discount code you provided here? It's what ethical businesses do …

          @PJC:

          I just checked that existing coupon code. Its for a different range of products that I don't offer anymore. And it expired over a year ago, when that post was posted.

          So the 10% is the best offer I have at present.

          Cheers :)

  • Negging as cheaper elsewhere, as pointed out by PJC:
