Can I ask where you got that code ?

Out of all the emails and their online magazines I have never been sent a $10 code or seen one. Ozbargain is the only place I find them.

    • +19

      Nice try Video EZY shareholder.

    • Emailed it to me, I usually get off ozbargain also

  • Thanks OP.

  • How and Where do you apply this code? (thanks)

    • +1

Go to the vending machine choose your movies and enter code at checkout.

    • Once you have selected a movie at the Video Ezy Express Kiosk and placed it in ‘Your Cart’ you will see at the bottom a button called “Promo Code’, sleet this and it will then go to a screen where you can enter the code above and select ok, after that the screen will revert back to your shopping cart and you will see the discount has been applied.

For $10 u can basically get a month Netflix subscription and watch movies and TV shows until your eyes bleed.

    • That's after your free month expires.

    • +3

This is free. What has Netflix got to do with it? Do Netflix even have current movies?

      • -3

Yes, Netflix makes its own shows and its own films . I think thats what most of their brand new content on Aus Netflix is tbh. They make some great films with big names, there is a recent one with Will Smith which I quite liked and reviewed well. The video kiosks do have some different content, Im not sure if netflix made films even come out on Bluray or dvd.

        • Yes they put out a lot of their shows on dvd like house of cards. I guess people must buy them rather than watch them on Netflix.

    • This is for people with home theatres and such who appreciate the vast improvement in quality of a Blu-ray over 1080p (and even 4k) streaming (and oldies and technophobes of course).

Plus streaming services don't get every movie, and not as soon as it comes out for purchase/rental.

      • Honestly, if you are appreciating a great home theatre setup, Probably should move to 4k tv and 4k UHD Bluray, rather than 1080p. Only for newer titles is there much point though, ie. A film from 2001 there is no or little point purchasing in 4k, it is intelligently upscaled and maybe edited slightly, something which a good 4k player and/or tv will do anyway to an extent.
All considered, as I was reminded recently when reading a 4k console comparison review, content is still what makes a film or a game, more so than improved pixel density. I feel 4k or 1080p are rather unnecessary for somethiing like a great drama or great comedy, without action scenes.
Btw, has any1 seen 4k UHD bluray discs at any kiosks yet ?

        • +2

As a home theatre user, blu-ray is much more satisfying to watch both sound and audio-wise when compared to the rip-off $18 Netflix streaming per month that I also pay for. I use Blockbuster and Video Ezy kiosks all the time to watch the latest new releases (often for free or $1.50 using various vouchers) and decide whether to buy them or not for my blu-ray collection.

    • Video Ezy has the latest release movies that won't make it to Netflix until 2019.

Can you watch Star wars last Jedi, pitch perfect 2, Paddington 3 on Netflix ?

      No.

  • Movies on physical media? Seems like an inconvenience

    • True, but the main inconvenience is returning to Woolworths etc next day just for return of disc. I will probably use this today, on my way home from Pool, but tomorrow may be out of my way having to go back to Woolworths next suburb along (closest kiosk, also near woolworths never has anything good).

      • You can return them to any kiosk, doesn’t have to be the same one you used to get the movie. But if it’s too inconvenient for you then stay home and stream.

        • +1

Are you sure can return to any kiosk ? So can rent a film from sydney kiosk, and return to wollongong kiosk ?

        • +1

          @ozzpete: yes

        • +1

@wxyz234: Ok thats good to know. The very closest kiosk has nothing, ie. There will be 1 copy of 1 good bluray film, and it will always be out. Seems bigger/newer the woolworths, the more range in video ezy kiosk adjacent . There was like 24 blurays (all available) at new big woolworths 5km away, about 4 blurays (and 1 available) is usually the case at woolworths 1km away.

        • +1

@wxyz234: No, You are incorrect. I found out today, the hard way. There are actually 2 types of kiosk machine, the ones with square dvd case and the ones with rectangular dvd case. You cannot return to any video ezy express kiosk, it must be the same machine type.
Anyway, I went to return tonight just before 9pm, then called support number on dvd case. They explained that apparently there is a little icon if you look online, to show either of the 2 kiosk machine types, or you can call support back to check which kiosk is correct for return. They extended the dvd rentals an extra night, and apologized. Excellent customer service really, apparently the upgrade of machines has not happened as promptly as anticipated and they are now expecting all machines should be the same by June 2018.
anyone who cannot return on time for some reason, you could probably get 1 night extension on rental, by saying you went to return dvd's and machine would not accept the disc return (see website to find where different kiosk type is to the kiosk type you originally rented from)

Not in Australia where some places have crippled internet speed cannot stream movies at all.

      • True

    • +1

If you have proper home theatre (40" or better screen) there's a significant difference between blu-ray and streamed content, even with fast internet.

    • I find it nostalgic being a child of the eighties.

  • So if I rent only 1 movie today for $4, will the remaining $6 be saved into my account for future use?

    • +1

      No

    • +2

Nah, but I rent either two for free ($8) or 3 for $2.
You can use different cards also.

    • It’s a single use code, so the no credit is saved to your account the $6 would just go to waste

  • This is a recycled code with the same $10 offer as one posted earlier in the year, it simply has a new expiry date. If you used it previously it wont let you use it again with the same credit card. Unfortunately I only have the one credit card :-(

    • Oh is that a reason why I could not use the code? But the code that I used last time was different code with this one? I also only have 1 CC :-(

    • Doesn't have to be credit card, most normal banking cards have visa/mastercard function these days. As long as it has something lile that, or the 'paywave chip' it should work fine. The new kiosk I went to tonight even had paywave, so I was trying to use that in the hope it registered as a different card (because I think some cards were blocked before, for returning day or 2 late and not having funds in account) . Paywave was broken at this machine though. Not sure the difference between paywave chip data vs inserting card data, but may be a way to use same card twice :)

    • Not sure I've used the code before - does the system reject it when trying to pay?
I just don't want to be charged and you enter the code before payment - so at what point does it get rejected then?

      • Once you swipe your credit/debit card if the system kiosk recognises you have already used the promo code entered with your card thats when you get the error message about how it doesn’t recognise the code. You can always use a different card to allow you to use the code multiple times 👍

  • I have already used it twice. Went to the kiosk and then realised it's the same code because it gave an error and didn't accept it. 😐
Couldn't be bothered creating another email alias.

  • Dunkirk night 👍🏻 Thanks OP

  • I received this code weeks ago and when I tried to use it it replied the code was not recognized check it

    • That messages comes up when you have already used the code with your card. I find the Video Ezy promo codes only work once per Credit/Debit card. If you want to use the code twice you can always use a different credit/debit card and email address. I find the same email address doesn’t matter its the different credit/debit card that allows the code to be used multiple times. If you have already used the code once with your credit/debit card it comes up with a message about how it cant ‘recognise the code’. If you have another credit/debit card I would try that with the code 👍

  • Thanks OP

Thanks Op I went down last night ! First video ezy machine experience lol Grabbed 3 for $2

  • Used it, thanks OP. The movies I got from the voucher yesterday I returned but funny thing is the movies had gone up to $4 each today when yesterday they were $1 each. Also I put Logan back and I couldn't find it anywhere in the kiosk to re-hire.
