GearBest - Faulty Mobile Sold

Hi,

Recently I have bought a Elephone from Gearbest which is faulty. It turns off automatically when it reaches 15% power and touch also not responsive as expected. After 30 mails with Gearbest for almost one month, they suggested three options:

  1. Keep the phone and refund $35 USD of my $149 USD to my Gearbest wallet
  2. Send the phone back with my expense (which cost me $25 AUD) - full refund to Gearbest wallet
  3. Keep the Phone and send the replacement for $90USD

I would like some suggestions from forum - is there anyway complain to ACCC?

Demand full refund or force them to pay for return post.

  • Yeah I'd be hitting up PayPal. Those are rubbish options with option 2 being the least poor but even then the refund is only going to your GB wallet…

    Have you tried messaging the Gearbest rep? Sunny should be able to sort you out.

    Don't bother with the ACCC. Gearbest is a Chinese company so they won't do anything.

      I used that option before years ago Paypal returned the postage costs fast just needed a photo and postage receipt. I think they only pay/paid back then up to $45 per return costs

      • I managed to return a 10" tablet to China for less than $45

  • ACCC has no authority over China. - send the useless phone back and recover what you can.

    • First make a PayPal claim and only return it if instructed. Don't just randomly return it or you'll get nothing. Lol.

  • Sounds like similar fob off tactics I just got.

    Order several items on the 28th of Feb, and was told they were shipped that day. Contacted them a couple of months ago, and told to wait until the 29th of April. Contact them again today, and I'm told that because I didn't take out shipping insurance, they will only provide a 50% refund, or I can purchase the items again at 50% off (so I can get half my money back, or pay another 50% to get what I originally ordered?? Can they even do math?!?!). Complete bullshit.
