    Great! Thanks op.

Have been looking for a dumb charger to revive some deceased envelops. Pretty good price on the Panasonic Eneloop Compact 2x AA Battery Charger @ $15

Throw the proverbial cat out again… Coles batteries cheaper and receive higher rating by Choice than Eneloops…

The Aldi ones are $6 for 4 AA 2200mAh LSD.

      • Lower rated though.

        • Hmm, wish I could read their actual reviews without giving them money.

I screwed up too. The Aldi ones are 2500mAh these days. Looking at what I can see on the Choice site they say the ones they reviewed were 2400mAh.

Looks like the number of cycles before "first failure"? is what let them down. Less than 100 seems pretty shit.

        • @CaffeinatedTech:

What i am surprised about is the Eneloop pro not getting even 100 recharges as i believe its the most expensive Ni-Mh battery on the market and made in Japan as well.

        • @techno2000: Yeah "First Failure" is the key there I think. A mean failure rate would be nice to see for value for money purposes. First failure would be worst case.

        • @CaffeinatedTech: Also interesting that in review old Sanyo eneloops rated highest and much better than Panasonic. Pity you can’t get them any more.

        • +1

@CaffeinatedTech: I think if people could read their actual reviews without giving them money it might make it a bit harder for them to fund the reviewing.

        • @drillvoice: Yeah fair enough. If they are fair dinkum, then selling membership to their review site and selling magazines is a fair way to operate.

    • Thanks

    • i noticed the value score is 24% for Pro and 42% for the ready to use version. Given that the price for 4 pro batteries in this deal will result to $4.65 per battery, wouldn't the score for the Pro version increase by at least 2% which gets it to #1 spot tied with the coles battery?

Thanks! Wasn't even aware of these.

That said, I've been burnt by choice reviews before, I want to trust em, but I'm not sure how much to trust em.

    • Interesting, but the choice rating doesn’t seem to take into account the number of cycles before failure in its calculation of value. The Eneloop has at least twice as many (doesn’t actually say how many) before first failure than the Coles brand and at least four times as many as some of the others listed in the comparison.

Costco Ringwood has 8 AA and 4AAA enloops + Charger pack for $36. Requires membership.

Careful…these may be made in China, not Japan. See; https://eneloop101.com/batteries/how-to-read-the-code-and-ma…

Bought some of the IKEA LADDA batteries last month and they seem to be doing ok so far in remotes, game controls and torches. Sure they were cheaper than these at around $7.99 for 4. Better than the Aldi LSD ones I have.

    • +1

Ikea ones are similar to Eneloop Pros since they are made in Japan and come from the same factory. Some website reviews even found them slightly better than the Eneloop Pro. I am also running the 900mAH AAAs from Ikea and so far pretty good. The 4pk was $9. There is also a lower mAH version of the ikea AAAs only $4 fora 4 pack.

    • +1

      Exactly what I was thinking.
OK comparing Coles brand ones might be a little suss, but IKEA Laddas have a far better reputation than those, and these Eneloop "deals" are over twice as expensive. Even if they happen to better, over twice the price per battery is a comparatively crappy deal.

Thanks OP. There's also 2.80% cashback from Cashrewards

  • Does the charger that comes with the AA also charge AAA batterielS?

  • I am happy with Aldi. 2500 mah and for $1.5 per battery is pretty cheap. For my xbox controller recharge lasts for two months. 100 recharge means 8 years so no concerns there.

    • In my Xbox my batteries only last about a week. I’m using standard Energizer rechargeable batteries from Coles, are these not as good? How are you getting so long from yours?

      • Check the mah on your energizer batteries

    • That's a massive difference, $1.5 vs $4.50. Where are the batteries located?

    I'm waiting for 18650 Eneloops… nextgen loops

  • Hi, I am looking at getting a new charger and batteries. I don't have much experience with enelope nor what chargers are good…could someone please provide input on whether the Panasonic Eneloop NCMQR06 Fast Battery Charger would be a good one to get? We have alot of kid's toys that requires batteries so really need a decent charger/batteries. It's nice that I can walk into the store to buy this and not have to pay for shipping. Thanks in advance for any input you may provide.

  • What is the difference between 950mA and 2550mA ? Or what is the usage of each? Could these be used in toys ? Like RC cars etc. for my sons toys ? tired of buying batteries for toys …

    • +1

Higher number means more. Power per charge. Yes they are normal, everyday batteries.

    • +1

950mah ones are AAA batteries and 2550mah ones are AA size Batteries. AA size are the regular and more popular ones and AAA are the smaller and thinner ones used in smaller things like Aircon and TV remotes.

    • Thank you guys, I thought there was 800mAh AA double checked it was AAA. I thought maybe higher Ah may be good for specific use such as cameras and electronic stuff not for i.e. toys. Thanks heaps ordered both AA and AAA

  • I bought 4 AA pros from an Australian seller on Ebay last week for $21.98 delivered. This is only a bargain if you can pick them up.
