This looks like a ripper deal for a great backpack. Must select size 32 and Navy for the $84.99 price.
Prices start at $159 on Ebay so thought it was worth a post. Hopefully someone finds it useful.
Shameless copy paste:
The Tropos 32 Backpack is Osprey’s top-of-the-range daypack and is perfect for active everyday use. It’s equipped with a suspended mesh ventilated panel at the rear, meaning no matter how long your journey is on foot, this pack will help to keep you cool and dry.

  • Nice find and a great price!

  • Bought one in Navy. Keen to give this a go. Cheers!

    • Same here, could not resist this unbelievable bargain, Navy is good for me.

      • They just cancelled my order :/

If want a lightweight one, look elsewhere.. Weight: 1.24kg

    • +1

It's normal weight for these types of bags. My old North face hot shot and crumpler backpacks are over 1.1kg

      • +1

My 48L pack is lighter than this, so some definitely would consider it a bit heavy for a 32L.

  • Osprey make quite good backpacks - have their Farpoint range and it's survived being tossed in an airline cabin and quite a few trips overseas

80 dollars for a backpack seems expensive let alone 150

    • +7

      Depends on your income.

      • People portion their income down to backpack expense. Ummm no

        • +9

An answer to a question that wasn't asked. Sharp.

        • Disproving a comment is different, yes.

  • Review is worth reading. I like the ability to store drink bottles on the side.

  • +28

Do I need it? No. Do I want it for $85? Yes.

So will I buy it? I'm gonna go sleep now so I don't have to think and hopefully by tomorrow morning it'd be out of stock.

You can hand in your ozbargain license tomorrow morning while you're at it.

      username checks out.

I spent some time researching and checking reviews and decided that, yes, I do need to buy it now. "Out of Stock" :(

  • I have a Crumpler Dry Red no.5 but still bought it

  • +1

    Don't forget 2.4% Shopback or 2.3% Cashrewards

  • Which one do you prefer crumpler dry red 5 or this osprey tropos 32?

I want to know about the quality and is it really good? because I was thinking to get crumpler dry red 5 when it was on sale before.

    Thanks

    • I just bought the Osprey so I don't have it yet

  • Dam, this is a great deal.

Sounds like a great city backpack for a great price!

If you're looking for something with a more substantial hip-belt for hiking purposes, I can recommend the Stratos 34 (which also has an adjustable back length and awesome ventilation).

Gregory also make great packs, such as the Zulu 30, but they can be a little hard to find in Australia.

    • +1

I have the stratos 34 in a bright green colour. I truly excellent hiking pack, really comfortable and lots of cool functionality. It’s for one day hikes really especially if you are carrying most of the stuff, although you could manage an overnighter if you have a compact sleeping bag and someone else was carrying the tent (always a desirable tactic).

That said, it isnt really an alternative to the tropos, which is more of a laptop/commuter bag. I would not use the stratos for that. Too, shall we say, outdoorsy?

  • Thanks. Been looking for site work bag!

  • Thanks, just ordered one! Shame I'm going on an international trip in 3 days and won't get to use it heh.

    Thanks for sharing, great deal!

  • Not working for me - says "item unavailable for backorder".

I'm off to Japan in a few hours with the tropos 32. Fantastic bag.

  • +1

Osprey make fantastic stuff. Kinda sad I missed out but the bag I have now is fine.

  • Great find OP! I was in the market for one, but it won't be until two years til I go backpacking so I've got time to wait for another sale :D

    • The farpoint/fairview are supposedly great travel back packs.

      • Thanks for the recommendation. I've only looked at the the advice for backpacking and understanding the concept of hostels so this is definitely helpful.

        • From my research there are different sizes - 40, 55 and 70.
The 40 is designed to fit into carry on limits. and the 55 and 70 have removable day packs.
          But they can get pricey….

        • @phil1311:

Yeah I was going to go with 40 because I thought it came with the removable day pack. I also want to be carrying the bare minimum as I have a back problem as well, but the removable bag looks tempting.

At the moment, I'm trying to see if there are foldable bags that I could put instead the osprey instead but it might not have the capacity or features that I'm after (drink holder/separated pockets/hidden pocket/lockable zips). Guess I have to do some further digging!

Yeah the prices are certainly up there but I can probably hold out on a sale.

        • @cerealsmok3r:

These drink holder things may be an option for you - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hanging-Buckle-Mineral-Water-Bot…

From my research the cheapest I've seen on ebay would have been sub $100. That was around $120 plus 20% off. Most recently it was $150 ($120 with 20% off). That listing has disappeared though and may have been an older model.

So cheapest now is around $130.

Have a look at different brands/models, it's just my research (numerous blogs) and friend's recommendation that has lead me to the farpoint.

        • @phil1311:

Thanks for the info. I was just pointed to Osprey in general so I'll look into that.

They just canceled and refunded my order lol

    • Likewise. Unfortunate :/
