  • this game still full of hackers?

    • Not too sure, I heard they eventually plan to section out regions, but I don't play this, so not too sure if they've tried any other solutions for that.

    • I play a fair bit and no, I haven't come across any in the last couple of months.

Not as bad as it used to be. They still have not introduced region blocking, though. Still better than fortnight which is for eight year old and normies.

    • I don't play either this or Fortnight, but I'm interested in trying it out. Can you please elaborate on why this is better than Fortnight?

      • It's not.

They both have their pros and cons but generally for a starter you're betting off going with FortniteBR as it's free and easier to get into.
PUBG gun mechanics/loot system and general gameplay is a bit more complex so it might take a bit to get used to. Nothing 'hardcore' if that sounded to throw you off.

      • My comment was more tongue and cheek :) Fortnight is pretty good. If you want to try one out I would probably start with Fortnight because its free. I tend to like more realistic games. Fortnight is more cartoony and has an emphasis on base building. Pubg is, in my opinion, is more competitive, harder and has a steeper learning curve. It is more like a military simulator in comparison.

If you choose Pubg, expect bugs and performance issues. You need a decent pc to play the thing as it is so poorly optimised and they developers are very slow.

I'd suggest you watch gameplay videos :) I hope I have not put you off.

  • What sorta specs are needed to run this? I have a laptop (just got rid of my console) and this game is right up my alley.

    • Laptops with a dedicated graphics card will struggle but play the game on lower settings at a comfortable enough FPS. Laptops with integrated graphics only will give you a flame driven slideshow on the lowest settings possible.

      • Lmaoooo okay, thanks for the reply. I have like, the lowest level of dedicated graphics. Would you advise buying it or is it just not enjoyable on that level of machine?

        • Honestly, to me it wouldn't be enjoyable… But if you are used to gaming at a lower framerate with the setup you have it could be very much enjoyable for you.

        • Buy it on Steam, try it for an hour (no more than 2) and if it works without issue, refund it and then buy it through this deal?

    • Game runs like ass no matter what you have
I have a GTX 1080 and PUBG probably runs only half as well as newer better looking titles.

I stopped playing this game a few months ago because of the cheaters. Every now and then I fire it up again to see if it has gotten better but get absolutely dismantled by a cheater within the first couple of games. The possibility of a future "region lock" wouldn't help either as all Chinese web users have a VPN to access Youtube, Facebook etc so it'd be like putting a traffic cone on the M5 with the intention of stopping people from driving.

The developers really don't care enough about the cheating issue and use prehistoric means of cheat detection/prevention like Battleye. They make money off cheaters with their infrequent ban waves which force thousands of cheating players to buy another copy of their expensive game.

Great game otherwise. Very engaging and balanced. You can often play a solid streak of games and not be affected by cheaters but it seems to be getting harder to do so.

    • The way to get around cheaters it to play in first person mode. You hardly get any.

      • That's a naive way of thinking. First person perspective can have just as many cheaters as third person - it's all down to chance.

The game was engineered to be played in third person. The developers half-arsed the first person perspective and it's about as fluid as GTA V's own first person. Why should I have to play a game in a specific mode to slightly reduce the amount of cheaters I encounter?

        $30 game with $10 value.

Less hackers in first person has been observed and commented on in pretty much every forum across all regions. That's why people keep repeating it. Not that you should have to play that way, just that it's an observation you can take advantage of. 3p has a wider view, more players so less queue time, so it's more appealing to hackers.

I personally haven't played third person since first person released since I much prefer how 1p plays, and can anecdotally say it has less suspicious moments than third person did.
