These are about $650 AUD here, but I don't think those even come with the EMR pen. This is the cheapest price ever, according to camelcamelcamel. I bought one a few weeks ago when it was close to the previous lowest price, so now I'm kicking myself.

Doesn't have the best processor or screen, but this is a sub $500 Chromebook that runs Android apps, which was exactly what I was looking for. 12 hour battery doesn't hurt either.

Not sure how long this will be at this price.

  • How does it go with android apps?

How would you rate it's usability in general?

Acceptable. It won't perform as well as the Asus C302… but that's $200 AUD more, and being my first Chromebook, I wasn't ready to throw $600 at one. If you want great performance, and are willing to spend $600+ on a Chromebook, all publications you read will tell you to get a C302.

I got this one because of the price, and the fact that it was rugged. I have a 2 year old that loves to grab my laptop and slap it around. Still early days, but it's surviving so far. I'm keeping the stylus away from him in case he thinks any pen can do what the stylus does.

I haven't used the C302, but I'm quite happy with this one. Can't imagine a sub-$500 Windows laptop being snappier than this.

      • Depends on the sub-$500 Windows laptop :)

32GB of storage, N3350 and 4GB ram (though to its benefit is DDR4) isn't amazing but it'll probably be enough for a Chromebook. Most of all, it's almost $500 for a Chromebook. That's a lot to pay for something that's main selling point is its price.

Note you aren't exactly comparing apples to apples here. A Chromebook and a Windows laptop are different markets. You can't simply get a Chromebook expecting it to do what your laptop used to.

        • True. But I only ever use my Windows one for the browser, so this was perfect. And I was tossing up between this and the C302. Could have saved a little more cash if I waited a bit, but you can never tell with these things. Prices fluctuate so much on Amazon.

Wow, I thought, Chomebooks would cost 200-300$.

      Some do cost that.

This one has a touch screen, which is what I wanted, especially for the Android apps. The ones without are cheaper.

Also the ones with ARM processors are cheaper too. But I wanted Intel juuuuust in case that Linux container rumour was true.

  • Not sure how long this will be at this price.

From the price history chart, it's likely the price is adjusted daily. So, let see if the price will drop further tomorrow, or a sudden reset to $400 mark again. 😉

  • I know 32gb is standard for chromebook but how much more the actual cost to put 128gb nowadays? Probably next to nothing.so stingy.

Also chromebook still has issue with accessing nas? Slow etc

Is that a question or a statement?
