Cycliq have just released a new version of this camera/light and so it looks like CRC are clearing out the old models. To be clear, this is the outgoing model of the Fly6. For anyone that is not aware of what this is, it is a rear facing red flashing light for your bike. it has a built in rear facing camera that records on a loop. The intention here is for it to be a bike version of a dashcam. If you are hit from behind there will be video evidence for the cops to use prosecuting whoever hit you or for your insurance claim/legal proceedings. It isn't meant as an action cam but you can probably download the vision if you want. the main feature is that it combines a light and a camera rather than having to carry 2 separate devices.

The new model is out which is probably why this one is on sale and their new one has a better resolution camera and wider field of view but it is also more than double the price of this camera. For anyone interested, the forward facing 'Fly 12' front camera has also been superseded and is also on sale. I've bought both but this is the best price I've seen for a brand new fly 6.

  • This is a great deal. I bought it a couple days ago for $129 from CRC. Just wondering if I could get a refund :(

  • looks like there is a clear2018 for another 10GBP off items that are 'clearance' … for the record I have one of these fly6's from ages ago works reasonably well but I found I was just strapping on too much stuff that needed to be recharged etc just to get out the door so stopped using this when I pretty much stopped riding to work. Pulled it out the other day and could not figure how to get it to record .. turned on OK but I remember the lights flashing to show it was recording….need to find the manual.

I tried the code and it didnt work for me, I think the code only works on a range of stuff in their 'clearance' section

      • Code worked when it was on sale for $149. That's when I bought it for $129 (with the code)

        • Code is only for total purchases of $149 and over.

        • @MissMurd3r: Yes. But the code wouldn't work even if the total cost of "Clearance items" is >= $149

I even tried to apply the code for combo (Fly6 and Fly12). It didn't work.

@dealspider: I think it's because the Fly 6 is not even listed in the "Clearance" section, so the code only works on things that are listed when you click the banner.

@MissMurd3r: It was in the clearance section but now moved to Red Hot Drops section

  • I read a review that the Fly 6 has difficulty picking up number plates, even in day time conditions. If this is true, it would defeat the purpose of a rear safety camera. Be keen to hear thoughts on this for anyone that has a Fly 6.

    • It can hardly ever be a "safety" camera. It only records video. At best, it's an "insurance cam" or maybe "police cam".

I watched some Youtube reviews with footage. I think it looks fine, though from the footage I watched, its not great for seeing plates further away. But if someone gets fairly close, close enough to sideswipe you, then you should be able to quite easily make out their plate etc.

There is a comparison between the Fly6 and the Fly6 CE on YouTube. Any time you step you from 720p to 1080p you're going to see things much clearer. They will eventually do 4K and so on. Going off the videos in the comparison I would say yes even during day time conditions you might find it hard to make out number plates. Could just be bad YouTube compression though.
