Hey everyone!
I would like to ask you guys for a general advice.
Currently, I own a 2014 13" macbook pro (in which I rarely use and planning to sell) and I'm having thoughts of getting an 10.5 iPad Pro as a replacement. I've watched youtube videos regarding it and I reckon it would be more functional for me while at Uni. It's note-taking is amazing as well as it's portability!
I've been reading on "rumours" that a iphone X looking ipad pro 2018 will be releasing late this year and I reckon it would be expensive but definitely way more better (as always!). So I am not sure if I should wait and buy the 2018 model or purchase the 2017 model now or wait til the 2018 is released and buy the 2017?
Please let me know your thoughts! And also please share your experiences on having an ipad pro using it for work, in general or while studying :D
Edit: I'm currently a 3rd year BSc registered nursing (so graduating by the end of the year) but planning to pursue further studies either units to prepare for gamsat or pursue masteral or grad diploma.
Could you add in what you're studying? That makes a big difference. A CS student isn't going to be able to get much done on an iPad Pro, but a History/Lit student might be okay.
Also don't forget that the new non-pro iPad, which is half the price, also supports the Apple Pencil and can be used for note-taking. Definitely worth considering. However, in general the iPad Pro is better than the non-Pro iPad for RAM/CPU intensive tasks such as:
If you're planning on getting either the Apple or Logitech keyboard case, be aware that they both have ongoing issues in iOS 11. Even support for regular bluetooth keyboards can be a bit buggy.
At this point I'd either go with the non-Pro iPad or wait for the next one.
Source: I have the original 12.9" iPad Pro and use it as my main home computer, for design/art/music/writing/video editing/etc. I love it except when it drives me up the wall.
