FAQ

Where do I enter the coupon code?

  • When you click "Proceed to Checkout" button, it'd say below the payment method "Have Coupon?"

It's showing me higher AUD price than mentioned in the title

  • Choose USD as your currency from top left hand corner. Don't select AUD, always choose to pay in USD, it will work out cheaper even after your credit card conversion fees. Also read the below.

How do I ensure I get the cheapest AUD price possible

  • To avoid higher currency conversion rates and to get cheapest price from these Chinese websites, you should get a credit card that charges zero currency conversion fees. 28Degrees, Bankwest Zero, Coles Mastercard are generally popular. Irrespective of what credit card you use, always choose to pay in USD on these Chinese websites, (Go back to main page, Choose "USD" from top left hand corner). Additionally set your Paypal so it "bills you in the currency on Seller's Invoice". To set your PayPal account this way permanently, follow the steps shown in these snapshots [Highly recommended]

  • I’m getting coupon not valid, possibly targeted?

    • You definitely signed in?

      • Yeah, created an account to purchase. Oh well, maybe it’s a sign the missus doesn’t need a dash cam.

        • +2

the missus doesn’t need a dash cam.

          oh yes she does ;)

Coupon code worked for me. Thank you, batrobin!

  • Choose Australia Post but the order went though with Hongkong Post. :/

    • Australia Post is the default over the border carrier isn't it? It's a bit sneaky to call that "Australia Post" if that's what they were getting at.

      • @AustriaBargain

Technically you are right that it shouldn't be called AusPost but because it is a special eParcel delivery which is normally trackable on Auspost website and average delivery time is 5-8 business day.

        • I guess that makes sense. I’d be more worried about it getting lost outside of Australia though.

    • +1

Don't worry, Rep has confirmed that irrespective of what the order confirmation says, all orders to Australia will be sent via Australia Post eParcel. just allow 2 weeks from the date of shipment.

  • No, not the pro. This is just v2 with fixed up prongs for the GPS mount.

edit: Actually im not sure now

    • Pro has 5MP AR0521 sensor. This one is 4MP OV4689 sensor. The only difference between the V1 and V2 models is the GPS connection system.

      • I thought so. didn't feel like googling

  • Comes up as $89.55 AUD for me

  • Thanks OP!! Ordered for new car

    • For new car I would suggest you invest a little bit more for something with parking mode :), might be useful in car park and such.

  • Is it just the 1st version? I believe the 2nd version of A119 is the A119S which uses Sony sensor for low light quality.

    • No, it's a Version 2 of A119. (A119S is different model with lower resolution than this)

    • V2 has a different gps connection.

  • I don't think it's the Pro. From the images shown the lens isn't the same.

  • What is the difference between the A119 and A119S?

    • +5

      The "S".

    • +1

Sensor is different, A119S uses a Sony sensor.

      • Cheers

Few others too A119S VS A119

The VIOFO A119S was released in late 2016 and is a modified version of VIOFO's highly successful A119 car camera. From the outside, the two devices look almost exactly the same, apart from the lens which has been updated. From the inside, let's take a look at what sets the A119S & A119 apart:
The A119S has an aperture of f/1.6, as opposed to the A119, which has f/1.8. The lower the number, the better the light sensitivity of the camera. This is another factor contributing to the A119S' superior performance at night.
The A119S uses a better lens (7G) than its predecessor (6G). However, the lens of the newer A119S can only be adjusted vertically, not horizontally.
At 135°, the A119S' angle of view is lower than its predecessor's, which captures 160°.

        • @porterble: Thanks for the detailed info, mate. Yeah, was just watching a YouTube comparison video and all the main differences you've listed here have been mentioned there as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzG576-IG8I

  • How many V2 versions are there?
The V2 has been cheaper before

  • Thanks, was just looking for one. Nice

  • They have five versions…

This one seems to be a revamp of the original

  • +3

This is probably obvious to everyone else, but I just felt I should point out that this device cannot also be used for GPS navigation (it's only used to record speed and location on the recorded dashcam video).

  • LENS: 6G F1.8, 160° FOV

Matches the specs of the A119.

  • +9

I believe this is the older A119 with updated GPS pins (V2), not the newer A119S. A bit expensive for a much older model IMAO ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I justify this statement on the specs listed and the model pictured on the site, as the images used display the older version in which the camera is adjustable from side-to-side within the lens housing and the sensor listed is the Omnivision OV4689. With the newer model, the A119S, the camera can only be adjusted up and down and is fixed in the housing. The A119S also uses a better sensor and lens which works better for night vision (esp with the new firmware) while the A119 PRO uses a much better sensor and lens. But if you can wait, then look out for the VIOFO A129 which is supposed to include Wi-Fi and a better parking sensor option.

    VIOFO A119 & A119 V2

    Chipset: Novatek 96660
    Sensor: Omnivision OV4689
    Lens: 6G F1.8, 160° FOV
    Video Resolution: 2560x1440P 30fps; 1920x1080P 60fps; 1920x1080P 30fps

    VIOFO A119S

    Chipset: Novatek 96660
    Sensor: Sony Exmor IMX291
    Lens: 7G F1.6, 135° FOV
    Video Resolution: 1920x1080 60fps; 1920x1080 30fps

    VIOFO A119 PRO

    Chipset: Novatek 96660
    Sensor: 1/2.5' 5MP Image Sensor
    Lens: 7G F1.8, 130° FOV
    Video Resolution: 2560x1440P 30fps; 2304x1296P 30fps; 1920x1080P 60fps; 1920x1080P 30fps; 1280x720 60fps; 1280x720 30fps

    • Didn't know about the A129, good they're finally adding Wi-Fi capabilities.

      • +1

*Unconfirmed 🤥 but I think that the A129 will also have a rear camera using a dual channel system instead of using two separate processors to reduce the generated heat. If this is true then I'm not sure how good the resolution will be considering both cameras will be sharing the same processor. 🤯

    • IMO A119S is the best

  • is this much better than the G1-WC?

    • Yes it is…higher resolution and this has a GPS.

    • Ive thrown away all my G1W's and replaced them with A119's - better in every way (except price).

    • I got mine for $77.xx aud in Jan. Someone posted it as a comment in one of the posts

  • +1

Not valid? I even made a new account.

    • same here, not valid as well

  • +1

I've got the version 2 from a few deals ago and it's fantastic. It's still really good for night time driving. Also using a sandisk high endurance micro sd.

  • What's a recommended As card to use for this unit? Last time I read it was Lexar.. can I use SanDisk or Samsung ? Does it really matter? 64GB is what I have

    • +5

Yes it does matter. Nothing worse than thinking that your SD card is fine until you have an accident and then try to view the video only to find out that the SD card has failed.

Have a read of the following SD Cards We Recommend for Dash Cameras which gives a great explaination as to why you shouldn't use most available SD cards.

But to save you time they recommend:

      • Transcend’s High Endurance - their top choice,
      • Transcend’s 400X - their budget option,
      • Sandisk High Endurance - alternative choice to the Transcend High Endurance card

Also "Don’t Buy Sandisk Ultra Cards" is a good read about half-way through the article.
