Why is there a huge price difference in TV prices in US and Australia? For e.g.: Sony XBR49X900E MSRP at the official Sony US online store is $949.99 whereas the RRP for Sony 49X9000E (Same model) at the official Sony AUS online store is $2499.

By the time you add taxes. Conversion and our ACL warranty the price difference would be minimal.
I added the taxes and than re-checked with the conversion rates, still the price difference is more than the double. So, are we paying extra price (almost equivalent to buying another similar TV) for ACL warranty?
Australians are rich so they buy expensive stuff
Cannot find the 49X9000E (49" screen)advertised anywhere (maybe discontinued), BUT you can get the 55X9000E (55" screen) for under $A2,000 at heaps of places.
Australians love inflated RRPs. That's why we have comments on here complaining about something being a "normal" price even when it is the best value.
