Cheap OzB Recommended Household Appliances/Things!?

So I have acted on some OzBargainers recommendations on certain cheap items for the house and have been pleasantly surprised! Here's some I'v gotten and think are great:

The $15 Spray Mop Thingy from Bunnings:

And more recently the $29 vacuum from Big W:

Does anyone have any others?!

  • I would say my best purchase of 2017 would be the Wifi Anova. Requires a bit of preplanning as it takes a long time to cook but its a 'set and forget' instead of having to hover over the stove/oven.

  • Checkout Daiso, if you have one locally, they have some nifty household things at an affordable price.

  • Well I like the Korjo travel umbrella.

Good for commuting on public transport, but otherwise I would just recommend getting a full size umbrella.

Mine is still holding up after 8 years. :o

I had a very similar one to that, came free with a steam mop. Was a piece of poo and got turfed after a while. Sure, it was lightweight, but the handle was really flexie and the filter clogged up really quickly and I had to use another vacuum to clean it out and make it work properly.

If you are doing the gardening , use zip ties on the whiper snipper/ edger instead of the line . it doesnt tangle and you dnt need to open it up to fix it

    • Nice tip, I'll give this one a shot.

    • Have you checked the cost of the zip ties vs trimmer line?

The $15 Spray Mop Thingy from Bunnings

I got a similar one from Kogan a few weeks ago, I think its great for cleaning around the loo, in the laundry near the cat litter and 'high traffic' areas, used daily. Cuts down on how often I will need to give floors a proper mop. I use water with a dash of disinfectant.

Though on the weekend it started leaking all over the place, will have to see if kogan will replace, if not will get one from bunnings.

I got a Kogan one, and the trigger wouldnt work properly. Like it wouldn't reset the spray and I would have to bang/shake it a few times for it to 'respray'. I spent more time trying to get it to spray than mopping. I had to send Kogan support a video and they sent me a new one, havent opened it yet so hopefully it doesnt have the same issue.

      • Mine worked fine for the first couple of weeks, using as stated above, hadn't needed to refill it yet.

But decided to give the kitchen and dining room a quick once over as I was expecting company, refilled the liquid and about 3/4 of the way through it started leaking everywhere, can't find the fault.

Guess I am going to have to make a leaky video for kogan.

  • when TGG (or similar) puts on a discount across the store, grab a food Steamer, ie

I only found out about these through OzB, but have used this pretty much every day for two years

You can easily and healthily steam your sides (pretty much any veggies) and your starch (rice, potatoes) and they also take care of the frozen goodies you can get on half price from WW, i.e. gyoza, dim sims, spring rolls. Mmmm!

  • How is a mop machine washable?! :p

But seriously, is that mop any good? Would be pretty heavy when full compared to a standard sponge mop, right?

Also there was a cheap fan from bigw but I can't find it right now.. brand was fenici and had a remote and timer etc.

My last recommendation would be some cheap bidets from eBay.. just need someone handy to install it either from airtasker or gumtree or yourself if you know yourself around a wrench and some plastic tubing.
