Warning this book is very theoretical and in-depth. You should have a strong math background before diving in

Elements of Statistical Learning is an excellent book and a wonderful resource for those with some uni math knowledge that would like to learn more about statical and machine learning methods. I used this book a lot when doing my PhD and thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in the field.
