Free or Cheap Overnight Parking in Adelaide CBD (Sat and Sun Nights)

Hi, hoping that someone familiar with Adelaide CBD can help.
Going on a trip to Adelaide, staying at the Holiday Inn Express.
Wondering if there are any free/ cheap parking for the car overnight (Sat and Sunday nights), in the Adelaide CBD area?

Thanks so much.

There is plenty of free on-street parking every night nearby, mostly heading south, especially in the side streets but also some on the main streets as well. Most are free from either 12pm or 5pm Saturday until 8am or 9am Monday. Many loading zones will be available too, as the restrictions won't apply on the weekend. I have not paid for parking in Adelaide for many, many years.

    • Oh, so that's what The Parklands is for.

Street parking in the CBD is unrestricted after a certain time and some streets are free on Sundays. Need to check signs for times. Central Market $7 flat rate on Sunday. Port road @ Thebarton has free parking and walking distance / tram to the city. See also https://www.parkopedia.com.au/parking/neighbourhood/Central-…

East of Light Square there is plenty of on-street parking for free, Eliza st, Playhouse Lane etc.

Just make sure to understand the signs.

Loading zones, for example, are usually only in effect M-F 9-5, Saturday 9am-12pm. So probably best bet.

But pay attention to the signs, parking inspectors do work weekends and common to see cars with fines in ticketed areas.

EDIT: Careful Grote St and further south, signs will say "Adelaide City Residential Permit AOT" meaning at other times, you must have a visible permit to park there. These are more in the residential parts of the CBD/North Adelaide.

  • Thank you so much for the above information!
