Where to Buy Discounted Price Carry-on/Cabin Suitcases?

Hello,

I will be travelling in about a months time and looking for some input from the OzBargain community on where I could find discounted carry-on/cabin suitcases? I'm after purchasing 2 suitcases.

Would prefer something in the softcase style (instead of hard shell suitcases to avoid scuffing/possible cracks) with 4 wheels but 2 wheels will suffice also.

Approximate dimensions below (+/- 4cm to width and depth):

56cm length x 35cm width x 23cm depth
Weight around 2.5kgs

Thanks!

there was a deal on the deals page.
either yesterday or the day before.
    maybe you're late

  • 2nd hand gumtree etc

  • myer had 2 for 1 on the weekend (at least in the city store)

  • i would say Catch of the Day etc, but i do have a BUYER BEWARE story to share with those kind of sites

These suitcases (Samsonite etc) have a 10 year warranty for defects. That sounds all well and good, but if you buy online, you can find yourself stuck with no way of returning the suitcase if something does go wrong.

I had a bag where the zip just completely stopped working, and it was put down to a manufacturing defect. Groupon (where i bought the suitcase) wouldn't deal with it because it was outside of their returns policy timeframe. They told me to get in touch with a repair shop. I went to the repair shop, who wouldn't repair because it was bought online and not through one of their stores. Samsonite wouldn't touch it because they said it had to go through a repair shop. So i ended up being completely stuck in a back and forth between 3 parties, with noone taking responsibility for the useless suitcase…which ended up going in the bin.

So just some food for thought if you go and buy from a non bricks and mortar store, or at least a non-specialist store

  • Plenty of online trustworthy stores in the luggage market.
I recently bought a cabin bag 50cm (or maybe it was 55cm) a Samsonite 72 Hours 2 wheeler for $87. That's pretty cheap for that particular model.

Or for a visual, touchy hands-on experience try your local shopping mall. They usually have at least 1 luggage shop. My local mall has 2 or 3! Plus Myer.

  • TKMaxx sometimes has a good selection.
