Anyone Have Experience of Auction at Grays Online for a Fridge Classified as Reconditioned?

Mum is a health care card holder. Her fridge is over 20 years old and doesn't turn off. Her bill is very expensive.

Option 1, she doesn't not have much money for a brand new fridge, but seems able to get one 40% off as per nsw health care plan.

Option 2, should I get one from gumtree? They seems to be 10 year olds.

Option 3, how about grays online? Are they any good? Seems to have 12mths warranty. Are they only couple of years old? Or even new?

I have trolley and trailer myself, but unable to load and unload by myself. Will the grays online helps to load?

    ebay. look at auctions.
facebook market place and local area groups.

personally, I'd have no problems with a used fridge. as long as the seals are in good condition and it works and is frost free.

my previous fridge was a FisherPaykel upside down 397 litre. it lasted 22 years.

people like to upgrade and hence get rid of perfectly good fridges.

I find buying from gumtree/facebook that people help you load stuff (I recently went through a washing machine fixing phase)

you can always tip the fridge on it's side to transport. have a blanket on the edge of the trailer and underneath to stop scratching.. just leave it up right for equal time before plugging it in.

    • Thanks very much. Never thought about Facebook.

I got a refruished inverted microwaved from them. Its making sparkling noises so I may have to return it.

Just buy a new fridge for your mum. Perfect Mother's Day gift.

    • Have offered that when dad was fancy a fridge, but they didn't accept it. Dad is a pride person.

my parents are like that - proud people.

        I just lie to them.

"yes, it is a factory secondhand return. see that scratch? (no scratch), because of that I got it for 50% off the reduced price. And it didn't come with shelves but a mate had brand new spare shelves".

parents like the savings, the discounts, they love the effort you put in to get the item.

Dad always want to keep the invoice for warranty. And if it is something over 200 dollars he will pay me back in his way. For example, he pays school fee for my son sometimes. Or maybe give me petrol giftcards. Or maybe change my car tyres when they are not road worthy.

  • Just thought I'd try to bump this to see if anyone has had any experience with refurbs from Grays.

Spotted this one for $949. With the current 20% promo, brings it down to $759.20 + freight vs $1485 + freight at TGG at the moment.

Very tempted, and being advertised as manufacture refurbished gives me a bit more confidence.

    • I was in the auction for this one last night. It was sold for 324 plus 17.5% fee at 10pm. The brand is not that good.

      • Oh wow. So $324 on their website vs $949 on eBay. Huge difference. And I love the 50% claim. They'd have a hard time selling a refurb for more than others sell brand new.

Any feedback about what it wrong with it? I know the Hisense TVs of late have been getting a good rep.

        • The auction ones have cosmetic issues.

Aslo Hisense are only good for TV not fridges. They are half of the price of Panasonic in China.

        • @jiaqi518: cheers mate.
